Rebels X-4 gunship will we see it?

By Flyingbrick, in X-Wing

I might have missed this up to no. But since the Empire has their gunship will the Rebels ever get theirs? I could imagine 1-2 of them flying around with Wedge or even some A-wings. What does everyone else think?

Too obscure to make it into the game.

According to Wookieepedia, it’s made the jump to canon. It looks to have only been mentioned, but it’s still something.

So, probably not, but there is some room to hope.

Perhaps so, I just figured since the Empire had had one i thought i would ask. I wont hold my breath but it would be nice. FFg if i only ask for 1 thing for Christmas wink wink.

That's more than the Star Wing can say.

Still holding out hope for the K-Wing and Punisher, as well as about half of the scum faction.

Yeah that was what surprised me the most. That the ships you mentioned have yet to be made cannon yet an unknown ship like the X-4 is there.

The canon team is pretty good at saying "yes" when a writer asks if they can reintroduce something. And writers tend to use their favorite stuff. So it might be obscure (I've never heard of it!) but I bet it was someone's fav that they couldn't wait to play with in their fic.

We never know what will happen. i thought that it would not hurt if i asked both if they just might introduce it and if anyone else was familiar with it since it was listed as being used in a video game in the past.

Exactly this. So for the E-Wing, K-Wing, JM5K, Aggressor, Mist Hunter, Kihraxz, Scyk, Kimogila, Starviper, Scurrg, TIE/ag, TIE/ph, TIE/ca, and Star-Wing, it's really only a matter of time. Looking, back, that's actually quite a lot of ships (14).

Maybe some will show up in the Cassian or Obi-Wan show? Definitely room for those Hutt ships on Tatooine.

So, you're a bit misinformed and I can't blame you. The X-4 is NOT the Decimator's analogue.

It is easily my favorite large rebel ship design. I also never got the chance to actually get one, because I moved out to a place where the only internet option had 5000 ping. Clipped my wings forever. Broke my frakkin' heart. But see...

This was what Rebel "Ace Pilots" in SWG got. The Decimator is what The Empire's boys got- and hilariously the YT-1300 is what the Privateers got.

SOOOOOOOOOO...

The real analogue to the X-4 is the YE-4 Gunship.

And for those still unaware of how the X-4 looks, here you go.

So, will we ever see these?

Honestly, extremely unlikely. However, they would be good, strong fits for Epic, I think. Honestly I'd be down with them being huges that were Tournament legal, but at the same time- as somebody who flew against them- specifically the YE-4 more than once, I can tell you that if they were fluff accurate...

I'd almost rather go up against a Lancer or Raider.

Eh, well there's the part where FFG said they consider the faction completed.

The way is shut, and the devs keep it.

The way is shut.

Bolded are in the Disney Canon. E-Wing, JM5K and Mist Hunter via the comics. Star Wing I've already linked (post above this one).

Hmm, IG-2000 has been too it seems, bolded it. Though the listed "sources" are all FFG products: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/IG-2000

I am aware of these. But if this is true, you could also say that the USS Enterprise is Canon. Some of them, like the E-Wing, have shown up, but only in the background and/or crowd scenes. The JM5K is closest to actually featured, but still no.

For the rest someone is going in there and creating canon pages based on the fact that they were brought into second edition, implying that they will eventually be canon in some sense. But it's not exactly set in stone, and there are some things that are in the game that won't likely be canonized, at least for awhile (Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, and Corran Horn, and Soontir Fel for a start; their timelines cross over existing canon too much).

I'd love to see everything become canon at some point, even possibly the aforementioned characters in a slightly more niche role, but it would be misleading to pretend they already are.
