Mini Tournament List Advice

By Cpt.Kirk006, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I am looking to go to a mini tournament in about a month. I have two lists that I am undecided on. Tell me what you think, be hard and critical if you need to as long as it is good advice.

with that here it goes, what list looks better, what are the pitfalls and what do you think I might improve for each list.

@wurms your insight would be particularly appreciated.

You are already tossing 4 dice range 1 at the enemy. And APTs are only 1 shot. Your first engagement at range 2-3 is more important, and that means plasmas and proton torps are better value. You will see people taking Jake with Wedge and Luke both with proton torps for this reason. Flying those three ships, you could drop enough to actually fit Lt. Blount.

Luke Skywalker (62)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Wedge Antilles (55)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Thane Kyrell (48)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Lieutenant Blount (30)
Total: 195

5pts left for some crackshots, or Sense or r2d2 on luke. Even foresight on luke since he is usually never force starved.

If you wanted to stick with those three and APTs, I would just drop them from Wedge for burners on them all, to close down range quickly. Thane can always spend an eyeball for his ability, so single modded APTs isnt too bad with two ships firing before him. Wedge at range 1 with predator just as deadly as APTs on a normal ship.

Luke Skywalker (62)
Adv. Proton Torpedoes (6)
Afterburners (6)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Wedge Antilles (55)
Predator (2)
Afterburners (6)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Thane Kyrell (48)
Adv. Proton Torpedoes (6)
Afterburners (6)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)
Total: 197

Thanks for your quick reply @wurms

Ive played a lot of Proton Torp Luke Wedge Thane before points change. they hit like a ton of rocks and made tough choices for opponents however if they could make up for it with angle of attack and range control. With the Apt's I could fly wings closed especially if I lock early and always be able to threaten the focus boost apt shot as I should be moving last with some pieces (if I am lucky) I would have freedom of choice with the sfoils either 3 dice or focus boost rng 1 5 dice attack.

I like the idea of Lt. Blount as an extra ship and another quasi 3 die attack ship. Will have to fly it in practice this week. Crackshots all the way though. Foresight is not very good on the table in my opinion as it does not proc all that often and usually does not hit either. On paper it looks good though specially with Luke's force regen.

I think Wedge, Luke, and Thane would end up stronger by flying naked with AP-5 around to support them, rather than being loaded up themselves - more choices, ultimately, makes you more versatile.

There's really not a thing wrong with the CIS list - I just don't know how it would fly

I'd rather add a fourth Ship for the Rebels.

  1. Wedge
  2. Thane
  3. Garven
  4. "Dutch"

10 points to play with however you like. Can swap Wedge for Luke if you'd prefer two pairs of same Initiative.
