Rebel Aces (EXX)

By h0racio, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Has anyone experimented (and had success) with Corran, Luke and Wedge or a similar ace-y Rebel list?

I would like to run something like that, for 195 pts you can give the Xs an R2 and Corran an R4 and FCS.

I ran Corran, Luke, and a blue. It did okay. 2-2 at local tournament. I threw it together, and it was the first time I played in about 4 months. I made mistakes from just not playing alot.

Basic strategy is hit.and run. Hit, double tap, regen, re engage.

New Squadron

(66) Corran Horn [E-wing]
(6) R2 Astromech
(2) Fire-Control System
(9) Plasma Torpedoes
Points: 83

(62) Luke Skywalker [T-65 X-wing]
(5) R2-D2
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(3) Brilliant Evasion
(6) Shield Upgrade
Points: 76

(41) Blue Squadron Escort [T-65 X-wing]
Points: 41

Total points: 200

I might try again with this, just need to get the rebel tie parts.

New Squadron

(66) Corran Horn [E-wing]
(6) R2 Astromech
(2) Fire-Control System
(5) Lone Wolf
(13) Proton Torpedoes
Points: 92

(62) Luke Skywalker [T-65 X-wing]
(5) R2-D2
(0) Servomotor S-foils
(3) Brilliant Evasion
(6) Shield Upgrade
Points: 76

(32) Captain Rex [TIE/ln Fighter]
Points: 32

Total points: 200

Basic idea is the same, just let Rex go in and hit, then have him go off and support. Let Luke/Corran do hit and run.

You can fit Corran with R3 and FCS, Norra with Magva and ExHan, and Luke, exactly in 200 points. All somewhat astonishingly balanced between offense and defense.

What is ExHan?

I tried Corran, Luke and Wedge last week and it was decent. But I'm really not a fan of Corran's ability, I always feel obligated to use it and end up regretting it. It would synergize well with an R2 but R4 feels so good on E-wings.

If you want to fit all 3 I'd go something like this:

Corran Horn (66)
Predator (2)
Fire-Control System (2)
R4 Astromech (2)

Ship total: 72 Half Points: 36 Threshold: 3

Wedge Antilles (55)
Predator (2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 57 Half Points: 29 Threshold: 3

Luke Skywalker (62)
R2 Astromech (4)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 66 Half Points: 33 Threshold: 3

Total: 195

Expert Handling, so she can close to range 1 easier with white Barrel Rolls!

I don't think Corran's ability is why one flies Corran. If there's a great opportunity to use it, then take it, but never regret just having an I5 on a stupendous chassis

Oh yes expert handling of course, the other Han ^^

I know, the I5 is why I use him, but it's a little frustrating. Anyway I was surprised not one player brought an E-wing at Worlds, although Spanish players seem to like it! ( https://meta.listfortress.com/ships/7/squadrons? )

Yup, two of my squad mates and I have a crush for Corran since 1.0, and as we saw ZERO E-Wings at worlds, we decided to take him to the Spanish Nats. I had the worst performance of the three, as I only came up 41st, but my other two mates made top 32 and Top8. Corran is still good.

I've been running Wedge/Luke/Corran a lot recently as it's fairly simple to fly. I usually run with a bid of about 9pts to ensure I move second against 90% of the local competition; for that you get:

Wedge with Predator
Luke
Corran with Predator, R4 Astromech, and Fire Control System

It's fun; maybe not the best of lists and maybe it'd be better giving the two T-65s regen and running at 199, but it does the job.

I think I'd go with this, just because it's the upgrades I like.

  • Wedge (Predator) 57
  • Luke (R2-D2) 67
  • Corran (Crack Shot, FCS, R2) 75
    • Bid 1 or Predator over CS on Corran

Luke can be a pain to kill, and with R2-D2 he gets even more annoying. Also, I have a hard time not doing it thematically. Other lore combos I mostly don't care about, but Luke and R2 feels different, and actually solid. Generic R2 goes well on Corran, too. Synergy with his pilot ability is just nice (pop the droid on the turn after you double-tap). Flying E-Wings seems like it always requires a bit of green dice luck to do well, and making him harder to kill just feels nice to me.

Wedge feels fine cheap. He's always going to be a threat to aces at Init 6 and with the reduced agility, but without 3 greens of Corran or the free force on Luke, he's a lot squishier, and flying him as a disposable threat strikes me as fine.
