Expanded rules reference card

By ArmadaMatt, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey all,

I'm teaching three new players in prep for a Rebellion in the Rim campaign. I've always found the command and defense token reference cards that come in the core set to be helpful.

I've created an expanded version that covers obstacles, contain, obstruction, overlapping, and command timings. It's designed to be a double-sided 7" x 5" card.

What do you think?

👍

This will be extremely helpful when playing with my wife, who doesn't remember what any token does!

Alas, she still wins sometimes. The will of the force.

Maybe you want to share your cards at the Armada wiki? Give me a note!

Quit complaining, at least she plays. Mine just looks at me suspiciously anytime I mention the game.

I'll expect this to be updated once clear rules for the Salvo token are revealed.

This will really help my infrequent newer players that we rotate through campaign matches here!

Thanks for doing and sharing your work.

I know this look well. :(

Oh goodness, you're right! I forgot about the new token. Yes, I'll update it once rules are revealed!

Thanks for making this! They are going to be really useful.

With scans of the new rules inserts available online, I finally got around to updating this card. Added Salvo as well as Ignition.

Also added a note about raid tokens and the timing of when you have to choose to "cash in" a command dial for a token.

I'll post a preliminary PDF for review here. Unless there are any errors, I'll add the print PDF tomorrow or so. I'm improving the print file, too, so it's one sheet for duplex printing and is a little more forgiving for print misalignment between sides.

Looks good. One rule maybe worth adding under 'Obstructions' is squadrons that are obstructed are not engaged.

This is my husband, except he usually just lets me prattle on about the game while half listening.

The tiniest of adjustments I would recommend would be to order the defense tokens in their natural order of being decided upon.

Scatter, Evade, Brace, Redirect, Contain, Salvo.

With the greenest noobs (practically rodian), I've had better luck getting them to think through it this way.

Looks great. With the space station rule after your sentence about repairing add unless otherwise stated on your objective card. I can’t think of which one there is but one of the objectives doesn’t allow you to repair.

Contested outpost doesn’t let anyone.

Station Assault doesn’t let first player repair.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I incorporated most of the suggestions.

@XR8rGREAT I can see your point, but I think that may lead to too many additions to the reference (because other upgrades or cards can override the standard rules, Foresight for example).

I've uploaded the latest version to Google Drive (links below). It'll be added to the Wiki soon, too (paging @Triangular , I've sent you an email about it).

Enjoy!

Thanks ArmadaMatt!

I agree with this. A reference guide should cover standard rules. It’s already known (and should be inherently understood) that certain cards allow the player to modify the core rules of the game (the Demolisher title being a well-known example).
