Aces High Ground is the best X-Wing format

Worlds had Rules Print outs at every table for the side event. It is a picture of what I assume you will find in the Epic Scenarios.

So basically they made the Fur Ball official?

The question is does anybody have all the rules to share so that we can all start having more fun like yesterday.

Most important rule, after the first player has their dial down everyone has 10 seconds to set theirs.

Yes.

Yeah they wrote it in white text on white background so it's hard to see. If you don't have a dial set it's a white 2 straight.

What's the point of rolling an attack die when restoring a ship?

Determines which symbol you can deploy at.

Crits let you deploy anywhere.

@Hiemfire

like I did not see the picture of the scenario already thanks for reposting. That is page #15 of a document. I would really like to see pages 1-14 and 16+ if they exist. So that I can understand the ace’s high scenario better etc.

We don't have those, page 15 was all that we got at worlds.

Ok cool. If you played aces high at worlds could you explain points scored vs bounty points and their scoring. I would like to introduce the format at my Flgs.

It's just occurred to me that most of my favorite standalone builds are legal in this format:

Luke Skywalker (62)
Precognitive Reflexes (10)
R2-D2 (5)
Electronic Baffle (2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Ship total: 79

Wullffwarro (56)
Juke (7)
Jyn Erso (2)
Perceptive Copilot (8)
Hull Upgrade (3)

Ship total: 76

Major Vermeil (49)
Juke (7)
Admiral Sloane (9)
Darth Vader (14)

Ship total: 79

I really want to try this format at some point. My build, while not the best choice by far, could most likely do well enough. And the chance to fully modify a K-fighter!!!!!

New Squadron

(46) Graz [Kihraxz Fighter]
(5) Cloaking Device
(6) Inertial Dampeners
(4) Ion Missiles
(6) Afterburners
(6) Shield Upgrade
(6) Outmaneuver
Points: 79

Total points: 79

5nub Fighter Zuvio (75)

Constable Zuvio (35)
Outmaneuver (6)
Pattern Analyzer (5)
Maul (12)
Proximity Mines (6)
Cloaking Device (5)
Shield Upgrade (6)
Total: 75

I ran him on a slaver. I got shot at once. I did not get shot at again for the rest of the game.

1) Ships can be any build size you determine. 80pts is what they used at the Worlds event. Paper has different recommendations from 50pt - 125pt.

2) Recommend 4-6 players. If its 3, it feels like 1 person just gets ganged up on, and when a ship has to turn around and not in the fight, then its just a 1v1. 4 is perfect. 6 was fun, but I wouldnt go above that as it just gets crowded.

3) First Blood: 1pt for first damage to a full health ship. So if a ship regens one shield and goes back to full then you could plink another point from it.

4) Kills & Bounties: Earn 2 points per kill + 1 point for each bounty the destroyed ship had with it. Your ship then gains one bounty (use a non xwing token, like Destiny shields, pennies, etc.). Bounties become points for any players that kill your ship. Any bounties left on your ship at the end of game count as points for you.

5) Destruction: No lost points for being destroyed. But you lose all bounties on your ship, and they become points for the player that destroyed you.

6) Fleeing/Self Destruction: If you flee the battle field, or self destruct by flying over rock, mine, etc. it is like fleeing and follows the same rule as fleeing. Lose 1 point, plus 1 pointt for each bounty on your ship. So, if you had 2 bounties, and fly over a rock and kill yourself, you would lose 3 total points (1pt for self kill + 2pts for bounties). This prevents a ship with like 3 or 4 bounties about to die, just fly over a rock and have no consequences.

7) Some rules are still unclear. During the aces high event, judge says bombs and mines will not count as damage from the player who dropped them. They basically just become neutral gamemat obstacles. Our playgroup in our own games afterwards changed it to reward the ship that drops devices. Made sense to us.

8 ) Play to a time limit, 45min-1hr recommended. Setting a point limit to 6 points can happen real quick depending on ships. Time limit works better. In 1hr 15min I got to 16pts in one match.

@wurms thank you so much it is a lot clearer now. I really appreciate your time and effort in explaining this.

how did you do at worlds? What did you fly?

Live long and ......... May the force be with you.

Main Event I went 4-3. Started out 0-2 after game#1 blunder, and game#2 hail mary shot from my opponent last round. Then won 4 straight to be 4-2. Then got taken to school by Faan Langelaan. Had a couple opportunities in that game but did not capitalize. My list was Maul + Sense, tractor beam / Chertek + Ensnare, crackshot / 4 naked vultures.

In the Aces High side event, I brought Luke + Heightened Perception, R3 droid, Afterburners, Adv. Proton Torps.

Heightened let me steal kills from i6's. Burners let me get range 1 quickly for my APTs that just destroyed stuff, and when I died, APTs and burners get recharged. So game#1 I scored 16pts and won that game. Game#2 I scored 13pts and won that game (got my revenge on Faan as he was one of my opponents :P ), and then game#3 I got 3rd with just 4pts. Third game was rough cause two ships moved after me, and the other ship was another Luke but had ion torpedoes and kept ion torping me! So I just died a lot, lol. An ion ship in Aces High is like blood in the water in a shark tank.

Had a game last night, used the Vynder build I'd listed before, basically hatchetman with homing missiles and lone wolf. We were using the snub fighter (75pts) category and on the table was CLT Anakin with R4 and Brilliant Evasion, Bounty Hunter Firespray with Marauder and Vet tail gunner and Darth Maul with Autoblasters and a hull upgrade.

Didn't get to fire the homing missiles at all, and Anakin was dodgy as all ****, but protons and advanced protons did all the work and ended up scaring two ships off the table and eventually winning me the game. Lots of fun was had by all! Definitely recommend a time limit though, as we were intending it to be a quick game prior to another and ended up playing for the one game whole evening!
