With the new jedi school in ruins and fellow students hot on his trail for the murder of their master, Ben Solo flees to the only friend he has left in the galaxy…a man named Snoke. But Snoke has plans for Ben…and ideas about the Force that are as dangerous as they are intriguing for the troubled young jedi. If Ben wishes to be truly free…the answers might lie with the dark side. And with the Knights of Ren!

But it won’t be the first time he’s tangled with the Knights. In the past, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker journeys to the Unknown Regions and brings young Ben along for the mission. Can even Luke Skywalker stand against the fabled Knights of Ren?!

A pretty big reveal that does a lot for Star Wars. The Knights of Ren are not the Jedi at Luke's temple and are most likely loyal to Snoke/Senate. Also sets up that the other Jedi Luke trained are still alive (like Jacen Syndulla). Would say them setting up Rey's Jedi Order to quickly be set up after 9, to make sure Luke did not fail completely, or to just have a backup plan if they hopefully continue stories after 9.

The implications are interesting.

I think the more interesting thing here is that one of those knights is using a lightsaber.

Seeing as the knights of Ren flash back in TFA didn't have him, perhaps this is the individual who facilitated the unstable crystal for Kylo's saber? Maybe Ben had to defeat him to take over the group.

Good catch!

One of the reason why I can't wait for Episode 9 is that I believe once the final movie will be out, we'll start to get more content to flesh out the time period since there will be no more risk of spoiling a movie.

Or... since the issue #1 release December 18, at the same time of episode 9, maybe there is some information in the story that was intended to be kept secret until the end of the trilogy.

Or because it was a pointless world building name drop that was likely never meant to go anywhere (like for example the Kessel Run in OT) but people sometimes end up obsessing over those so now we'll get some backstories.
