Lando/Boba thoughts?

By Ikka, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm about to finish painting my Scum Falcon and have never put it on the table, so I was playing around with some lists to see if anything spoke to me. Don't really like Han because his ability is so dependent on getting an obstructed shot and I never seem to get those, so I chose Lando as an ok backup. Any thoughts on how this list might work/needs improvement? Thanks!

Lando Calrissian (49)
0-0-0 (5)
BT-1 (2)
Engine Upgrade (7)
Lando’s Millennium Falcon (6)

Boba Fett (85)
Fearless (3)
Maul (12)
Proton Bombs (5)
Hull Upgrade (5)
Slave I (2)

Autopilot Drone (12)
Total: 193

You can spec out a good Han for less than that Lando. (All you really need is trick shot and title, optionally with Qi'ra, so 64 or 66 points). I think that's right around where it wants to be to earn its points back. Rigged cargo chute is cute, but should probably be left to a medium base team mate if you want to get an obstructed Han shot out of it.

The scum falcon's firepower is anemic if you don't run Han in it. The best non-Han option is probably running it as a bugzapper(feedback array blocker) with a freight captain or L3-37 as the pilot.

I don't think a 2-ish ship Scum Falcon list is ever going to be top tier, but Boba is solid, and Lando seems about as well built as Lando could be. You can probably run this as a "I just want to get the pilot on the table" list and not hate your games.

I'd be sure to add Contraband Cybernetics to Lando. His ability gives him stress, and there could easily be times when you don't want to limit yourself to blue moves. Being able to pull out even a white hard turn while stressed could be really handy.

Han is only good if you are consistently getting obstructed shots, which I rarely do, which is why chose not to use Han. Lando plus OOO/BT-1/Title is designed to get roughly the same output as Han without trying to deal with obstacles.

True, this is more of a fun list than anything I would run competitively. More of for one-off games or possibly trying at my monthly league for a fun game. Contraband would help, and three points isn't a deal breaker at all.

Not a fan of 0-0-0 as a title/BT-1 enabler, (whenever I've faced it in a list letting the opponent have the Calc token was always the better option) but let us know how it works for you.

It feels more natural on Lando than Han, I think. Lando can white boost for position, and if your opponent gives you the calc, he can reroll blanks with your pilot ability. Dice should probably be fairly consistent.

Unfocused target

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 1 green with calc (unstressed target): 2.175 hits, 39.86% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 1 green (stressed target): 2.132 hits, 48.08% crit chance before BT-1

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 2 green with calc (unstressed target): 1.809 hits, 38.45% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 2 green (stressed target): 1.783 hits, 45.28% crit chance before BT-1 (gateofstorms does not have a BT-1 option that I saw.)

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 3 green with calc (unstressed target): 1.465 hits, 35.16% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 3 green (stressed target): 1.463 hits, 41.15% crit chance before BT-1

Focused Target

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 1 green with calc (unstressed target): 1.925 hits, 39.82% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 1 green (stressed target): 1.887 hits, 47.26% crit chance before BT-1

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 2 green with calc (unstressed target): 1.324 hits, 36.02% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 2 green (stressed target): 1.326 hits, 40.85% crit chance before BT-1

Lando pilot R1 (3 red) vs 3 green with calc (unstressed target): 0.811 hits, 25.83% crit chance

Lando pilot R1 (4 red) vs 3 green (stressed target): 0.865 hits, 31.17% crit chance before BT-1

I can definitely see the argument for more consistent. Yet if the target is Focused and being shot at by Lando in 0-0-0 range, letting him have the calc is still the better option for ships with more than 1 Agility. If BT-1 is on Lando the Calc is solidly the better option when unshielded, defensive Focus token or not.

That's the general idea- Lando can use his action to either boost for position or take a TL/focus (depending on whether or not he'll be facing multiple attacks) and then use 000 to either give him an extra die if the enemy takes stress or get a calc for offense/defense.

Nice work, @Hiemfire .

I guess a lot of what I meant was, if Lando gets handed a Calc by 0-0-0, he's able to get more mileage out of it than Han Solo would frequently be.
