No - the resource remains. Just that one resource “pops” each announcement.
In order to get the higher price from the merchants you need to put all the same resources all in one place.

Sorry, still not clear. What do you mean that one resource pops?

Yes, "pops" is gaming vernacular for appears.
When I say that such-and-such a planet has resource B, it means that 1 unit of B appears on that planet.
Some planets started with random resources, 5 have "popped" each turn since.
You can swap 1 resource of any kind for 10 credits worth of stuff. You can swap 2 resources of the same kind in the same place for 40 credits worth. You can swap 3 resources of one kind in one place for 90 credits. As yet, no one has asked about 4 resources of one kind...
@LTD do all communications have to be in thread? I know that was a rule in previous games but I can't find it now.
Make sure to put "do not shoot" orders in your spreadsheet from now on. For example, "Do not shoot Bertie." I'll do the same. It needs to be there for every turn (unless we agree to cancel the treaty later on).
All comms between players need to be in the IC thread.
Comms with the merchants guild needs to be IC.
There are some NPC conversations that will happen via PM - I will indicate when this occurs.
