Yes, I am married with kids. Also, all my friends who play Xwing can only come in on Thursdays as they have busy lives and can't come in any other days other than Thursdays. There will be a business decision for the change. There always is a reason, even if we don't see it. Normally it's because they can save a few dollars if they make a slight change.

That said, there's others like myself with family and kids and a weekly store meetup that's never aligned to the release day. We've adapted. We make pre-orders and have the stuff behind the counter when we arrive. Not like most of us can use the game pieces before the next game night anyway.

What's the reason? Probably something more to do with delivery issues or factors that don't include you personally only playing on a specific day and thus only going to the store on that day. In fact, any given customer's schedule has no bearing what so ever on release dates.

I'm thinking the reason is probably more to create an "event" or a "buzz" by having the release date on a Friday. Sort of make it a special thing to go out, pick up the new stuff, and play X-wing. I can't think of a money reason why it shows up on a Thursday, but you can't sell it until the Friday.

Does Assmode care and/or want to change their policies based on my opinion? Heck no! Does it royally piss off myself and my friends that game on Thursday nights? Heck yes! Yes, I get that I'm in a minority of people and it rarely affects most people, but it does really screw with people in my situation. It's aggravating and I strongly dislike it. It basically pushes the release date back a week for no good reason when we can look and see the product in the store (but can't touch it).

You do realize it's not just your local store, right? My local store, the owner wont even fully unbox a shipment until the release date. Before he moved to the current location, that meant there would be boxes of unopened product behind the counter. The new store has a storeroom where he can keep product that arrives but hasn't released yet.

I'm just personally pissed about it. No I don't think they will do anything. No, I don't think they did it just to spite me. I do think it was for a lame reason like creating a buzz event. I just want to vent because it drastically changes when my gaming group can play the new stuff. I am rather pissed about it.
