What I'm missing is something to carry the non-unit/upgrade cards and the spare upgrade cards... for now, I'm using those self-close bags that come with Legion and X-Wing.
I store all my cards in a box that my phone came in. It's a perfect size for a stash of large cards and the small cards fit sideways.

Are those designed to fit in a legion base? That's pretty neat! Even if it's just to provide a better way to glue your magnet to the base, it's still pretty awesome.

According to the seller they are specifically designed for the Legion infantry bases but I'll bet they'll work on larger bases as well.
Very cool. I've been using gray stuff to stick magnets under the bases. It's worked pretty well so far. I tried drilling in the past, but it just isn't worth the hassle.
Sorry for bringing this topic back from the dead, but I probably need the community's help on a storage and magnet issue.
For storage, I'm using a large plastic bin container with a piece of sheet metal on the bottom that I can stick all my minis with magnets on the bottom to. I picked up a bunch of magnets from Home Depot that fit underneath the bases without lifting the mini up, but I'm running into a problem. The magnets I bought are stronger than I realized they'd be.
When I put the minis out on a table, they pull towards each other or push away from each other, which messes up any attempts to position my forces properly. When I pick up a mini in a group, it'll try to pull one or two of the other minis with it and the bottoms of the bases will stick together.
Could I get a suggestion or two of better magnets to use for Legion minis? I need something that'll stick to the sheet metal in the storage strongly enough that they won't jostle or come loose as I'm driving to and from the game store, but not so strong that they try pulling towards each other on the game mat. Unless that's just a side effect of using magnets on bases that I didn't know about?

As a newbie to miniatures that I have to assemble and paint myself, there's a lot I'm still figuring out. I didn't know about the Army Painter magnets, but if I can find them in enough bulk at my local game store I'll pick them up.
Just gotta hope I don't ruin the bottom of the bases when trying to remove the superglued magnets I put there.
I used 10x2mm neodymium magnets, and those are probably just a bit stronger than necessary, but don't create too many problems with moving other minis around, and hold the minis just fine in storage. For my next batch I think I will try 8mm.
I use 6x2mm neodymium magnets and a tiny bit of superglue. One in the centre of each base for the small minis, two in the AT-RT/Speeders offset a little. They hold the minis so well to the sheet of steel I taped into the bottom of a "really useful box" that I ended up adding a few sheets of paper in between to make it easier to take the minis out.
I've got a full army of Rebel + Imperials in a 9L box, the rulers, counters, cards, dice etc in a 4L box and then all the terrain in one of their 64L boxes.

I finally took a look at exactly what kind of magnets I'm using and they're 8x3mm neodymium magnets. Apparently that's just too strong of magnets for these minis.
I'll give the smaller magnets a shot when I get the chance to go out and pick any up. The 6x2mm ones might be the best option to switch over to.

I think you'll be fine if you go with a slightly smaller magnet. I use 6x3mm and I don't have the problem you are describing. Those would be only slightly smaller than what you are using but bigger than the 6x2 others are using.

I bought the large 3800 for $39.99 and it comes with pluck foam. Additionally it had the advantage that it is 2mm longer on each side than the Battlefoam SeaWolf foam inserts so you can buy those inserts if you want custom loadout (I did buy a couple of custom inserts for my imperials). The pluck foam they comes with is really easy to use, I was able to fit my T-47, 3 AT-RTs and almost all of my rebel troops (far more than you would need for an 800 point game). I travel a lot for work, so I bought the smallest one (1800) to take minis with me to paint. I'm able to fit 12 minis, paint brushes and 4 Vallejo size paint bottles.
After I bought mine, Harbor Freight came out with two larger versions a 4800 (with additional clips on the sides) and a rifle case size 9800. Don't have either so I can't say how good they would be but the 4800 looks like it might be even better than my 3800.
BTW, no I don't work for harbor freight I just really like my legion cases.
I use the rifle cases. One for Rebels and one for Empire.

As an update, I picked up some 6x2mm magnets. They are definitely sufficient for small bases, but I feel that more than one is a good idea for bigger bases. I'm using two on some 40mm base models, which feels about the same as one 10x2mm magnet.

Just before going into "quarantine" I broke down and bought one of the Apache 4800 cases. Knowing I was going to go "All-In" with a new CIS army (curse you FFG, this is my 3rd Legion army!) I decided to splurge a bit to get them a dedicated transport and storage solution. Harbor Freight had them on sale for $43.99 and now that they come in different colors, I thought I'd buy one in sand color to tie in with my Separatist Battle Droids. I also got a package of anti-fatigue foam mats to use as a foam base for the inserts.
First let's go into the case's details. The case is hard plastic similar to Pelican or Battlefoam cases. It comes with 2 pluck foam inserts each approximately 2 inches thick. There's a bottom solid foam insert 1 inch thick and a top egg crate shaped insert almost 2 inches thick. The plucks are about 5/8 inch each (just shy of 16mm). A 2 x 2 pluck out will give you a 1.25 inch square that is perfect for legion model size. The case's inside dimensions are 7" deep (including lid cavity), 12.75" (12 and 3/4) wide and 17.625" (17 and 5/8) long.
I used an exacto knife to cut the anti-fatigue foam mats 3mm smaller than the case width and length. This helps in easing the foam inserts in and out when pulling out the minis. The soft foam inserts will compress easily but the foam mats need the extra space to easily slide in and out. I then glued the foam inserts to the base mat using a hot glue gun. Only the solid perimeter foam was glued to the base mat leaving the plucks to be easily pulled to adjust for the Legion minis.
The base foam mats I used where just slightly shy of .5 inch thick. In hindsight I could have used a thinner base mat but this one was cheap enough ($7.20 for 4 square feet) and provides a very solid base that will keep the foam insert solid and non deforming. Also it's easily cut with razor blades (best for straight edges) or sharp scissors (best for rounding corners). Once the AAT arrives I can pluck the correct shape in both inserts and cut the bottom of the top insert so it can comfortably rest in 4.5 inches of foam.
Lastly here are a couple of pictures of the finished product. Final cost was $51.19 for the case and materials just add a little measuring, some cutting and elbow grease! Next steps are to remove the Apache stickers and clean up with "Goo gone" adhesive remover and then add CIS iconography using a stencil or vinyl decals.
That money is better spent on magnetic solutions. Now that I have racks from Battlefoam, I'll never go back to foam. Magnetization is so much easier and way more effective/efficient.

Well maybe not zombies that bite or scratch someone and turns them into zombies but we do have 2 zombie/undead beings. The Geonosian brain invader things and Nightsister stuff.
With the quarantine right now it is a good idea to resort stuff and look at new options. But we are looking at magnets more in my area.

This is why my guns travel in sacks made out of old wool blankets. To deter thieves. Also cause my guns are 1700's style muskets that are too long for modern shotgun cases. But that's another story.

I have seen those and am a little intrigued ...but... the price is not as enticing as you made it out to be. The cheapest magnet rack on the Battlefoam site is a

into my 720 bag, well, that is $140 not including the bag (which I already own) just the racks. Now don't get me wrong as I said before in this thread, I love Battlefoam, I own several of their bags and 25 of their foam trays (bought more since last I posted) but they are not cheap. Unless I miss-calculate when plucking the foam I should not need any other/more transport solution for my CIS. I can see the advantages of magnetic transport trays as they make it easier/faster to transport my legion models to my local store (1.3 miles away from my house) but I've seen too many magnetic models shift and move during transportation and if/when I decide to attend an out of state (read major) legion tournament; I wouldn't trust a magnetic solution to keep my minis safe during flight/transit. One more thing to add is the added factor of having a themed (CIS) storage and transportation option at a far cheaper price option. Please don't take this as a direct attack on your decision to go with magnetic solutions. Everyone's situation is different and requires different solutions that fit their needs, but currently this one fit my needs quite "snuggly".
I just go with empty egg cartons for my troopers, and a cardboard box with cut up foam for anything larger. Maybe not the best option, but very affordable.
