Weight or non Slipbase mods

By Reklawyad, in X-Wing

Previously during 1.0 I bought some washers and glued them to the bottom of the bases to help with the models not falling over. I was going to do the same thing this time around but also wanted to **** with the bumping when playing. I googled a few times and saw some suggestions but nothing stuck out. Suggestions welcome!

for obstacle placement, I was thinking of getting silly putty or something else to put in the cardboard when I put it down, anyone have luck with that?

Personally, I use a cheap recycled mouse mat, cut into small pieces and glued smooth-side up onto the bottom of the base. It works quite well, with the textured surface 'gripping' well on most play mats.

I've not attempted to do anything with my obstacles, however. I'd be worried about somehow messing things up.

I use a bunch of sticky rubber feet they make to cushion cupboard and cabinet doors, they work a treat.

The ones I have do lift the base up a fraction of a millimetre, which doesn't matter most of the time, but once I thought I'd squeezed in next to another ship only to see on very close inspection that one of my front nubs was hovering just above the other ship's nub, which I had to fess up was a bump even though the square portions of the bases were clear of each other.

We stick our obstacles down with blu-tack before we play, and the corners for marking ships are similarly decorated, though I would caution that it makes seismics more annoying.

thanks everyone for the responses!!

Yeah, this. 2.5mm thick are the perfect fit, the lift is imperceptible. I got these off amazon, cut them in half diagonally and put them in corners, this leaves room for a big washer in the middle.
