crew reclamation

What %age of your crew can be reclaimed as servitors before your ship can't function anymore?? meaning can your entire crew be servitors and still run at full efficiency??

There's nothing in the rules, as far as I know, about this. However, there is one book (Xenos) in which a ship is run completely by servitors.

Considering how much menial labour is done in the ship, I'd assume somewhere in the region of 90%, assuming it's the right 90%.

Tobias Maxilla manages with a ship of nothing but Servitors. Although abnett stretches the definition since even Maxilla's astropath and navigator are supposedly servitors. Which i wouldn't allow in my game.

Still, i like the idea of a mechanicus vessel crewed almost entirely with servitors, with only a small skeleton crew of astropaths, navigator and tech priests.

Really depends on the quality of your servitors. Like the mechanicum ones, Space Marine vessels are run primaraly by Servitors, though not quite to the same extent. I wouldn't really worry about it unless your players rutinely kill off all their crew in space battles.

Based on a reading of the component description you would lose a minimum of 1 Crew each time you take damage, but would lose 1 more morale for each strike. So a hit that would normally cost you 4 Crew and Morale (base) would now cost you 1 Crew and 5 morale. That would indicate that eventually (combat-wise) you would get to a point where your crew would revolt or there wouldn't be enough of them to run the ship since you still lose 1 point of crew minimum. Though, it would take a lot longer to get to the "don't have enough Crew" point.

I am basing all of the above on the line: "For every point of Hull Integrity a ship loses, it loses 1 Crew Population and 1 Morale as well" from the RT main book, page 221.

Also, after a quick look through the Crew/Morale loss mitigators (Triage, Reclamation, Hold Fast...etc) there is always a minimum of 1 for the losses. I am guessing these are the crew that are destroyed or vented into space.

Wouldn't it get to the point where a captain would want to press-gang a new crew into service to combat the loss of morale? Obviously a captain would not want to have a revolt on hand. So I am wondering how often this would happen under a boring long haul of no combat and how much damage you would need to take (crew members and morale you loose) before you start considering an overhaul on the crew members.

Servitors require maintenance by tech-priests so I'd say no. The player of the Explorator isn't the only Adeptus Mechanicus on board as it'd fall apart if that were the case. Also servitors aren't cheap, require bits to turn them into servitors and all have limited functionality. Most of the crew will be capable of multiple jobs or at least being re-trained/promoted if need be.

Note that in Into the Storm there is are rules for an all (well nearly all) servitor crew..... The basic issues are that you crew skill rating tends to be lower, and you can't recover crew unless you are at a hive planet or admech world.....
