So, I’m wondering if it is a waste of money if I buy a pack like the Y-wing or the Inquisitors' Tie if I already have the model from X-wing 1.0. Yes, they have the quick build cards but those are listed on-line. Are their any new cards in the pack or anything that makes it worth $20 besides the new model. The X-wing has the opening S-Foils but that came in the 2.0 starter, the pack has a slightly different paint job but that hardly seems worth $20, if you ask me. Just for the stuff that is in the 2.0 conversion kits, is it worth buying the 2.0 packs that are in the conversion kits for some reason? Which models are dramatically better in 2.0?
Buying 2.0 packs if I own the conversion kit
@Br11741 , tough call. There's generally nothing new between 2e expansion packs and what came in the conversion kits. FFG wanted it to be an even ground between 1e veterans and new players.
If you already own the conversion kit and want to purchase the 2e expansion pack, then may I suggest selling the ship's conversion kit components in the after-market? Use eBay or reddit.com/r/ffgtrade to determine market value. Merely a suggestion.
Hopefullly someone else will have a better idea than me. Good luck!
There aren't any new cards in the re-released ships, so if you have bought a conversion kit you won't be getting anything new.
It can be worthwhile getting certain packs, however, for things like bomb tokens. Also, due to the numbers of ships converted in the kits, you may be more efficient to buy a 2.0 expansion rather thsn attempting to chase down a 1.0 ship and the conversion components (for example, the TIE Advanced x1 only has two ship's worth of components in the conversion kit).
On the other hand, not all ships have a 2.0 release.
Case by case really. I'm already in possession of four converted Bwings, but I bought one of the new ones and intend to get at least one more.
I'm tempted to start a online service/business hobby of converting old content to new. Buy models and conversion material and slowly pair as much together as I can. Basically junkyard dealing. Set up a table at some major events maybe, have a donation/free-bulk box for new players to root through. Something like that.

This is the gist of it. If you need one more ship or just like the new model the rerelease pack will likely be more efficient and good value versus time.
I do not know how to advise you on wanting the new model but not needing the additional model. Justifying your spending decisions is all on you, OP.
Depends on what you want. I’ve done a mix of buying old models second hand to help fill conversion kit slots and buying new 2.0 ships even with the 1.0 models at home.

Personally, I don't like any of the 2e Models more than the 1e. Y-Wings have turrets and guns which are too chunky. I don't really like the flappy and spinny wings. I like the old more-white-than-blue versions of the various TIEs which are different.
I've bought a few 2e expansions of 1e ships, because I needed more of that ship.
That said, the Core Set has stuff which is only in the Core Set. I don't recall all the upgrades and pilots, but there's stuff in there not in the conversion kit, and sometimes not in any other expansion.
I'm particularly ****ed off about Instinctive Aim. There's 1 copy in the core set. Meanwhile, TIE/x1, TIE/v1, and Republic Y-Wing have all released without it, despite having pilots with Force Talent slots and Missile or Torpedo upgrades, and Instinctive Aim is also not going to be in the upcoming Hotshots and Aces reinforcement pack, despite including a pilot who almost surely has Force Talent and Missile slots, and the stated goal of such reinforcement packs is to make more available upgrades which aren't widely available.

@Wazat listed them up in the pinned "Share Your Questions" thread a few days ago.
"There are pilots and upgrades exclusive to the core:
- Luke Skywalker (T-65)
- Jek Porkins
- Iden Versio
- Valen Rudor
- Night Beast
Upgrades:
- Instinctive Aim
- Sense
- R2-D2 (astromech)
- R5-D8"
I suspect Instinctive Aim is exclusive to the Core Set because it's kind of an iconic Luke Skywalker thing. And he's exclusive to the core set.

Really should have been in the Inquisitors TIE/v1 expansion, since they're the ship which probably actually wants to use Instinctive Aim most. Low-Init, great actions, and a fairly cheap platform for launching missiles. To be sure, Jendon is a better strategy, but IA isn't terrible.
Luke can make good use of it too from my experience. Letting him Focus, Barrel Roll, or Boost while still getting a torp off is good. And with his pilot ability, spending the Force to launch his torpedo doesn't impact his defensive mods in any way. After all, he regains force every time an enemy decides to shoot at him. Granted, I've been experimenting with Heightened Perception or Supernatural Reflexes instead since often if I'm launching a torpedo, it's at long range. And I'd really like to have that Target Lock reroll available if needed. I've also been experimenting with using an Astromech that allows maintaining 2 target locks instead of one that gives limited Regen.
I would buy enough 1.0 expansions until you have used enough for teh conversion kit, and then 2.0 expansions to get more dials.
For a couple of ship types, I have more models than covered by the conversion kit. The easiest way to get more dials is the 2.0 expansion. But, that has another model...
If you use X-wings in Rebel and Resistance lists, you may have more dials than models.
I am not worried about the cards or nicer models. Or even teh correct version of model for the list. For me, it is about getting a ship on the table with teh resources to use it. With Epic coming out, it's about the number of ships on the table.

Not helpful to the original post, but this specific reason is part of why at Worlds I was trying to scoop up the red squadron pilot cardboard (got 3 in total). Yes they look amazing, but they also can double as another t65 dial. I mean, is someone going to DQ me because one dial says Garven on it?
I finally have enough t65 dials to match all my models from 1.0!
Some of the rereleases have upgrade cards not present in the conversion kit. Hate, for example is in the v1 rerelease but not in the Imp conversion kit (because it was released afterwards).
Only a few of them though, and those cards will be in the card packs too.
For scum you have to buy 2.0 firespray or off-faction/1.0 core to get proximity mine tokens... really annoying, and I'm holding out for Fully Loaded. FFG has been really stingy with bomb tokens in 2.0, the only ones I have are bomblets.

The Fully Loaded Devices Pack seems like it will have all the bombs.
