Hidden Gems for Huge Games

I've been thinking about a few ships that will probably stand out exceptionally well for Huge games. These can be Epic with lots of points or games with Huge ships.

Kimogilas = These things have not really found a good home in most regular games, but Epic has gotten me thinking about buying a 2nd one (and possibly a third). These things will be fantastic, especially against the big ships. Both types of Ordnance and the special ability of the Kimogila and you will see these things do some damage! They all stay around mid to high 40's for base points and even if you didn't give them Ordnance, they can do some damage. Dalan can regen Shields and Torani can do extra damage. They are also beefy enough that it would take some concentrated fire to bring them down. These ships should do well in bigger games! I especially like Torani to get multiple ships in her Bulls Eye arc and either strip tokens or do damage!

Scyks = These guys with HLC or Ion Cannons are going to be brutal, especially against the big ships. I can see a wing of these led by Serrissu doing very well. They are CHEAP, too!

Kihraxz = I already consider these guys excellent staples of any Scum list, but for less than 40 points each, you can have an excellent 3 Attack die fighter. I don't think they need the named ones or any upgrades. A Wing or formation of these guys will be nasty to face off against.

Scurrg = Possible that these guys will do well. They aren't too many points, as long as you don't load them up too much. The title will let you fling bombs. They have a Turret and Gunner slot that would let you get more shots when swarmed by lots of ships. I think they could do pretty well in a huge furball.

Jumpmaster = Much like the Scurrg, but with Torpedoes. Maybe not the best option, but I can see these guys on the table. They aren't too many points for something with about 10 hits, Ordnance, a Turret, and a Gunner.

Y-wings = People use them, but I think they will shine in Huge games. They are cheap and can reload their Torpedo slots. They will be an excellent addition to all factions that can take them to bring down big ships.

Azzituck = With a wider field of fire, they can almost always get a shot at SOMETHING. They can bring valuable crew into the fight and still dish it out. I can see them being used in the middle of things for a Huge battle.

K-wings = Assault ships! They have SLAM and Ordnance! Hard to take down quickly. I can see these guys trying to go wide and get some ordnance shots at the Huge ships.

Assault Gunboat = Much like the K-wing. It can SLAM and has either Ordnance or Cannons (HLC or Ion) and can take down the big ships.

Lambda Shuttle = I have to say that there can be a use for these guys. They sit in that mid 40's bracket and have 10 hits to be taken down. They can take a bunch of support crew and get them into the fight where they are needed. They even have a rear arc! HLC, too!

Tie Adv X1 = I have found these ships to be strong in 2nd Ed and I think they will be amazing in Epic. They have a decent dial, can take a pounding, and DISH OUT CRITS!

Tie Interceptors = People have shied away from these from the games I have seen, but I think a Wing of these guys will be a hard thing to handle. The Wing itself will be pretty nimble and able to fade away from anything you turn to face it and it can choose where and when to come at you with 3 Attack dice. I really think these guys will do well in Epic. Also, they are FAST! When you have big battles, getting a full unit of these guys to where you need it quickly can really make the difference. Either that or they have the speed to go wide and still make it to where they need to be and still be relevant to the fight.

Tie Aggressor = I actually think they will be good in big games. They will most likely be excellent at escort duty for some Tie Bombers. They can fire Missiles and Turrets at whatever comes at the Bombers as they move on the big ships. Ion Turrets can slow down whatever comes at them and Cluster Missiles can also hit multiple targets. I think a couple of these protecting a Bomber wing can be effective. In general, their Turret can work in a furball and cheap Missiles can give them firepower. Don't ask too much and I think they will do well.

Tie Punishers = Anyone doubt that they will do well? They can fling bombs or have Passive Sensors. Load them with Torpedoes that they can reload and send them against the big dogs. Cutlass is only 38 points!

For all the Nantex haters out there.....I think they will do WORSE in huge games! More ships means more shots fired at them. They will whither to the increased firepower. They shine in small skirmishes. Side note, I do think that cheap ones with Gravitation Deflection will actually be OK.

I agree the Starwing is going to be awesome for epic, it's fast, tanky, and extremely versatile. With Aresenal Loadout I'm expecting Diamond Boren missiles to be a strong choice with all the ships on the board and a wing counter. They are also small so the can be taken in a wing themselves. A wing of 3 Gunboat in Assault loadout with Ion Cannons is going to be crippling to the energy of any huge ship.

gunboats dont even need ion cannons, jamming beam can do the same job but for 0 points. you can put those points into perhaps advanced slam for the gunboats. then you can equip a missile to deal actual damage. Concussion might be nice, especially because there are going to be a lot of ships at range 0-1 of a huge ship.

Jam will remove one Energy. Ion Cannon has potential to do 1 damage and remove 2 Energy.

Jamming Beam

Each hit or crit result applies a Jam token. Each Jam token eats an Energy point iirc.

Wasn't arguing which would be better (we'll find out when they hit the table), just making sure that the information being passed around was accurate. :)

Trandoshan slaver bugzapper wings. catch and fry opposing wings, add tactical scrambler so they can shield a more fragile wing(like cartel spacer ion scyks).

What you really have to atch out for though is stuff like B-wing swarms, or likewise resistance transport swarms. Lots of guns, lots of hp. I wonder what the ship limit will be.

It looks like wings will be small base only so Trandoshan wings are out..
