Clone Troopers - Type of Glue

By Lord Citrus, in Star Wars: Legion

I saw online in a painting video a guy mentioned that he was using plastic glue on the cone troopers (because it is a different plastic than the rebels and empire).

has anyone who have put them together tried using it? I prefer plastic glue to super glue but want the models to stay together.

appreciate anyone’s thoughts on who got it already

In the FFG live stream where they assembled the core set they said clones were the old plastic but the BARC itself and all the droids were hard plastic. Super glue for clones, plastic glue for everything else.

The CIS forces all come on sprues and are the new hard plastic, same with Greivious and the Droidekas. Obi Wan and the Clones including the BARC troopers are all the old style soft plastic. I'm not sure about the speeder itself, I haven't assembled it yet but it seems to be the harder plastic, but it did not come on a sprue like the other hard plastic models so I'll need to test. A heads up, from my experience, I've had some trouble with gluing the B1's to their bases with plastic glue, so I ended up using super glue for that, however your mileage may vary.

I'd use super glue on the bases regardless; makes them easier to rebase later.

Whilst that is nice, I prefer to use poly-cement on bases when possible as from my experience, superglue tends to fracture when dropped, leading to your minis being broken from their bases.

Well that is why they're easier to rebase... s'pose there are tradeoffs.

Use superglue on the Clones. The plastic is the same as with the original Core set for them.

I put together my BARCs and Clones last night with just the same super glue i've been using all along. No issues.

I can confirm the BARC is hard plastic (I believe all vehicles to date have been?). I used plastic glue to assemble them.

Super glue never has issues regardless of what material the minis are made of.

sorry I read the OP's post backwards, and thought they were asking if super glue was OK to still use, or if you had to use plastic glue

I hear this as the main reason to use plastic gue a lot and i'm just over here wondering is everyone really just dropping minis let and right that this is an issue?

I guess it may just be a personal issue due to my clumsyness, combined with the fact that my play area usually is above a hard wood floor. I'll end up bumping a mini off the table atleast once a game so it's always plastic glue and testors dullcoat for me...

I mean, I’m not playing fastball with my minis, so superglue works quite well for plastic.
