When and where did you get yours?

It's "In Development" according to the Upcoming page even though I fought two of them in a tournament a couple weeks ago.

Store had preorders, and we just paid for them. I wasn't aware that they weren't available yet.

Wave 5 was officially released September 13, 2019. Here's the link to the FFG news article: Available Now – September 13

Thanks. I pre-ordered from my FLGS back in the summer. Still haven’t gotten them. Last time I asked, owner said they were in pre-shipment status and that was two weeks ago.

They are available. Been up on Amazon for a month. For some reason, my FLGS hasn’t gotten my pre-order yet.

I don’t know why FFG doesn’t update that. Amazon has had them for a month now.

My FLGS would only get shipped stuff once the distributor had 400 bucks worth of stuff to ship.... are you in a small town?

I am in a small town. Actually, my FLGS list his deal with Alliance so he was actually ordering through another dealer. We’ve never had trouble ordering stuff until this wave.

As others have said, they have been available for a while now. As of last week they were even available in Barnes and Noble, and aside from the Wave 4 kerfluffle they are usually the last to get new waves on the shelves.

Sorry you are having ordering difficulties, is your FLGS too small to have an account directly with FFG?

According to my best friend that owns the FLGS, Alliance being the ONLY distributor for the game has caused costs of product to rise due to your discount being based on amount ordered and then adding shipping costs in as well. It has gotten to the point where it’s literally not profitable for a small store in a small town to be able to put product on the shelf. Since they have taken over distribution we have no longer carried game mats due to the fact that after the small discount and shipping charges he literally has more than MSRP in them and it really doesn’t take much business training to comprehend that you can’t pay more for a product than it retails for and expect to stay in business. He’s actually considering no longer carrying product because of these issues, and honestly if I didn’t play the game and keep the small group going that I’ve built he probably would have already dropped it. I look for more and more small town small stores to start dropping the game under these conditions, and honestly who could blame them. And before the argument starts that he’s exaggerating, I owned a local store a little more than 30 years ago and met him we he worked for me, I’ve always seen his cost since starting to play in 2013 and the cost on a small ship at the end of 1.0 was nearly 35% more through Alliance than they were from his old distributor and let’s remember the MSRP was the same. So much for the big deal FFG made a couple years ago about taking steps to help the local FLGS. I imagine it will be harder and harder for people in small towns to walk in and buy the game as we go on, which will affect the amount of local tournaments as well, we have one more on order and that will be the last, we’ve already dropped the game night kits.

It was released on Friday the 13th.

Coincidence? I think not.

It is small and I’m about the only one that regularly orders FFG products.

You describe exactly what my local owner says. When I get product from him it’s at MSRP rounded up to the nearest dollar. I don’t mind paying more to support the store but going on a month late for product is pretty bad.

Our store is 98% Magic players. That other 2% is divided among Warhammer, Bolt Action and FFG. So yeah, we are a very small group to order for. I’m gonna have a talk with the owner and see if we can find other ways for me to support the store other than ordering a couple ships each wave. I’ve done construction and repair work on the store at no charge so maybe I can find other projects.

The whole thing is a mess of a relationship between Alliance, Asmodee, and the retailers. I was under the impression, however, that Asmodee “flagship” retailers got better discounts from Alliance. I know my store had their account cancelled and then could only get older product (nothing from the most recent wave or two) at a reduced discount until they sorted things out with Asmodee.

Other than that, if you are used to paying retail, why not order from amazon and then just donate the savings to your FLGS? Ends up being a win for everyone. FLGS gets money without having to order ships, you get ships.

Alternatively, Alliance is also a WotC distributor, so maybe combine everything under Alliance to get a better discount and free shipping?

Disclaimer: I haven’t dealt with Alliance since I was in charge of tabletop games for a Hobbytown store almost 15 years ago, so I have no idea how it works now.

This could be a good alternative, unfortunately Alliance is higher on magic than other distributors so there again where can you make money. It’s actually a problem with Alliance being the sole distributor for FFG product, nothing good comes from a monopoly (not even a boardgame), least of all when said monopoly is named Alliance. If your a big store who can order loads of product it’s not a big deal I guess, but when these decisions affect the customer base it will eventually come back to bite FFG right in the a**. I myself don’t really prefer to order online and I’m not a fan of the larger store a couple of towns over and an hour away so what do you do when you can’t buy product locally? Yeah, you will eventually spend you hard earned dollars on something else. I don’t play at home and can’t really order online and play online at miniature market/amazon so when a local store doesn’t carry product and doesn’t devote space to play games they don’t support....well I think we know what happens then. It’s really a shame too because up until recently 2.0 was a very good game with a very good ruleset but we appear to be heading back down the old 1.0 road on the ruleset nowadays. In between the supply issues and the rules lately I’m actually considering packing it all away and take a peek later and see how things are going.
