What are they specifically? At first i thought they were just 1 model representations, such as 1 tie instead of 3 but now im wondering if they're specifically 1 model units like the hawk. Any help is great.

Irregulars are those represented with a single model instead of 3, like those of Rogue and Villains Expansion.

The rule is i I n the rules sheets for Imperial II, Rebel II, R&V, Abd in the RitR Rulebook.

it is “squadrons that use”.

The implication being that if you only put 1 tie fighter on a squad base you are improperly depicting that squadron, in the same manner as confusing your opponent
