Cantina Fluff!

By CloudyLemonade92, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hello everyone, I'm new 'round here.

Just started our first Force and Destiny campaign, (I'm GMing! :D ) however I'm mixing a lot of the feel from Edge of the Empire into it as well. A bit of this and a bit of that, ya know?

I'm starting with the adventure Lessons From the Past but will use this as a springboard for a homebrew campaign. As such, I've been tirelessly over the last few weeks building up the city of Eriadu, with my own imagination of course, adding stores and facilities the PCs can use. NPCs to populate the area and a handful of side plot points and quests that the party can do before or after or in tandem with 'Lessons'.

I wanted to share with you a bit of fun I want to incorporate for one of the seedier cantinas in the City. Let me know what you think, if you like it or what you would change or tweak.

As per the title, its Arm Wrestling! Inspired somewhat by Critical Role Campaign 2. Here's what I got so far: (note: I'm not a writer so don't be too harsh with my grammatical mishaps! 😧 )

The Krayts Cove (Cantina)

The party hears a ruckus going on in one of the corners, you see a crowd of people around a table and just between them you see a burly Trandoshan, thick scaled arms, broad shoulders, a scaly reptilian snout and sickly yellow/green skin with lizard like eyes, staring furiously, wrenching the arm of a Nautolan down to the table.

As he does, the crowd erupts in cheers; the Nautolan gets up and angrily shoulders past someone and walks off to another part of the bar. The Trandoshan now you see, a grin forming on his mouth showing a row of dagger like teeth as he takes in his winnings. It seems to be an arm wrestling contest or evening of sorts. If the party goes over, they are perhaps persuaded to partake. If they don't go over they are cajoled by some other patrons and called out as 'fresh meat's

Should the party play, the first go up against a Devaronian named Yevto. Make an Opposed Athletics check. 1 Purple, 1 Red.

• Success means the PC gains a position

• Advantage adds a Boost Die to the next check

• Threat adds Setback

• Triumph Success. PC gains two positions

• Despair Failure. PC loses two positions

• From neutral (starting position) it requires three successful checks to pin

If an NPC or PC is in the last position and about to be pinned, he must roll a Resilience check instead of Athletics .

Should a PC pin the NPC, the crowd erupts and whatever was bet is theirs for the taking. At this point, the Trandoshan pipes up, taking the seat of the Devaronian and says:

"Leave the winnings there." And slaps down an equal amount of credits. "Or are ya afraid I'll take em off ya?"

The Trandoshans name is Korag. 1 purple 2 red.

Looks like a fun challenge. Don't forget you have the options of a Triumph failure and Despair Success and the always fun Triumph + Despair

Thanks I think it will be! Oh yes, I didnt think about Despair Success and Triumph failure. Perhaps it would give them advantage or setback on the next check.

Maybe the opponent has some dramatic reaction to loosing and starts a bar fight. For Triumph, maybe the opponent is magnanimous and allows them to keep some of the pot (unlikely) or offers to buy the person a drink.

a bar fight would be great :D
