I'm not a huge fan of clear bases, and ones the same height as Legion bases would be very floaty.

Based on posts ‘round the web, I know I’m in the minority here... but I think clear bases look SO BAD. Things just look like they’re hovering. I could get into them for something like speeders / vehicles that are unposed to hover, but for anything on the ground? Meh.

I know other people get really bothered by base effects that don’t match the play surface, so clearly everyone’s mileage varies, here.

My opinion has always been that the miniatures spend the majority of their time on display and I'd rather have a mini diorama with the bases than clear bases on display. The bases also give the eye something to focus on besides the errant brush strokes I missed until after I sealed the model... 😛

I don't see it as any more egregious than a chunk of desert in the middle of hoth terrain, or whatever basing you choose. The huge bases of Legion already make the characters stand out.

As I plan on getting clear ones anyways, and painting the edges with translucent paint, it doesn't bother me.

Much like the deck-plating bases, it is good to have options. Personally, I'd never get those ones, so everyone is different.

When I got my legion starter set, it lacked about four or five bases. I asked FFG to send me replacement parts, and they politely did, but as there were a lot of problems with boxes in that moment, they needed a couple of months to send them. In the meantime, I simply glue TWO GW 25mm bases, one on top of the other but in reversed position ("big" parts together), and then I filed them to have the proper inclination. They looked EXACTLY the same once primed...
