Please FFG normal bases!

By jhh3, in Star Wars: Legion

We have premium bases but we don’t have normal bases. They sell packs of premium bases for like 15 dollars.

I am probably going to magnetize my men to their bases so I can change terrain as I see fit and that means I need 3 bases for each trooper. I don’t own a 3D printer and I don’t know anyone that does so I am going to have to use a company that cost more and I would prefer to use stuff from FFG. So please FFG if you did this I would buy a hundreds of the packs.

It also seems weird that they have not done this yet.

its FFG weird decisions are the norm

My suggestion is Google "Star Wars Legion bases" and see if anything comes up that meets your needs. I know Litko makes clear acrylic bases for Legion but, with you wanting to magnetize your figs, they may be insufficient for what you want. Also Etsy.com might be somewhere to look as well. There are quite a few stores there that sell acrylic tokens for Legion. There may be some that sell bases as well.

If you're wanting to play in tournaments, just remember that the base needs to be roughly the same height as the official legion bases, in addition to roughly the same diameter.

It's only weird if you made the classic mistake of using the "L word". Logic . Don't use that word.

You could always try trading premium bases for regular ones. Probably wouldn't get you all of what you need, but its a start.

And I don't think its entirely illogical that they haven't done this. Presumably, they'd have to sell regular bases at a reduced price compared to premium bases. That would hurt the profitability of premiums for uses with 3D printed figures and the like, and I doubt they'd see a massive increase in sales of regular bases to offset it.

Don't forget (if you haven't already bought it) that Priority Supplies comes with like 12 spare plain bases.

You used to be able to buy all the standard bases direct from GW... I don't think they're offering non-premium bases here either.

Edit: nope, I'm wrong. It's totally a product they should sell loose in a cheap box.

You're supposed to put the crates, consoles and vaporators on those.

Yes, but the basing standards for those are less strict than that of miniatures, you just need the right diameter, not diameter and height.

Yup, they're just physical representations of tokens that already come in the core box. If you really need to you could just stack them on top of the tokens

For some reason I think the tokens are 25mm while the bottom of the base is 27mm. Which if true is very annoying to me.

Never mind.

But those are for the crates. Right?

And as previously mentioned, the crates do not have a height requirement for bases, unlike the miniature, so can be more easily put on third party bases and still be tournament legal.

Thanks everyone. I think I will get priority supplies.

Thanks I think I will get some of those. And I could use the extra crates for terrain.

And that's another option. The stuff inside makes pretty good scatter terrain when it isn't being used as objectives.

Have you guys heard of Time of Legends: Joan of Arc?

Only 63 hours before the kickstarter ends. If you like medieval games you will love this. I jumped on it. If your interested check out these links. Spread the word. I don’t want others to miss out and I want to unlock stretch goals.

A very subtle spam

Sorry. I am that trying to rush you or make you buy something you don’t want. Saying you only have 63 hours wasn’t tying to rush you either, that’s just what it said on the website yesterday. I just herd about this from @Crabbok on his YouTube channel a month ago. If you don’t want it don’t get it. Sorry to anyone who takes this as spam.

Fixed

I didn’t put the crates on any bases.

I backed the original wave of Joan of Arc, I have so much stuff for it. The stretch goals last time were insane.

Its claims to historicity are overstated. They emphatically do not represent supernatural things the way medieval people described them. “We take them at their word” is not true. The weapons and armor would get an F if they were a school paper about the mid 1400’s. As a game it’s a really fun all-things-medieval romp, but don’t get tricked by the claims. The minis are not historically accurate.

But you can’t use them in a tournament.

Thanks for sharing. Is the history accurate in the scenarios?

They’re optional anyway. You can use them for scenery and use the cardboard markers.

If you need a lot of bases, why not make a silicone mold from an FFG base and cast them in resin?

I want official clear bases. That would be snazzy.

I magnetized the objects and 5 bases (the most I would need) so I can use the objects as scatter terrain. That meant leftover bases for future use.
