It's not 3 a turn. It's 3 to start, regen 1 a turn. See the single pip next to the value. The value obviously depends on how long it survives and how much it gets focused. We can probably say it won't get more than two shields back a game; it's not like it can escape from an enemy determined to bag it. We'll see.

Overall I think my knee jerk reaction may have been a little harsh; I'm not used to the idea of spending 100+ points on a support ship. Maybe it'll be okay. But... I sure hope the rest of your list is murderous, because that's a lot of points to spend on a ship no more dangerous than a Sheathipede.

Do we have some idea on points for the Transport? They were quite cheap in 1.0.

Yes. It has a pretty limited energy pool to draw on, which makes that “harsh” to me. It won’t be getting to do that every turn for long, and it lacks the shields to manage without the reinforce.

I'm with you on this point. I get the feeling that a ship like this will end up being like Jedi. Jedi theoretically have all these force powers they can use, but powering pilot/ship abilities and getting modifiers consumes all available force. It's noteworthy that the BY FAR most prevalent Force powers are Hate (which generates Force) and Sense (which can be used for free). The CR90 and Raider may be different, but this ship probably ends up using all its energy on reinforce plus ship ability.

We don't, but that was the premise of my first post. I'm feeling 85 to 90 base is a good start. 100+ was a number presuming some upgrades.

Didn’t they say the Imperial Gozanti is only like... 60 points naked?

...that makes me so sad for the VCX, suddenly 😔

Yep, they said 60 points on the stream. For comparison purposes:

Transport: 2/0/12/3^/4^
Gozanti: 3/0/11/5^/3^ For 60 pts

Very reassuring.

They were 30 points in 1st, and if Gozanti is 60, depending on upgrade slots, I'd guess 55-58

Not sure if it's been pointed out yet, but look at that asteroid field! Remember, First Edition rules had obstacles placed in pairs, rather than individually.

This will really limit the good flight paths for huge ships, so obstacle placement will be very important.

That's for an epic scenario, so I suspect those are fixed obstacle positions, with no additional placement by the players.

I highly doubt obstacle placements are fixed in any scenario; I can't recall any previous instance of fixed placements in any previous 1E missions (plenty of rules/ranges for how they must be placed, but nothing "fixed") and it would be almost impossible to emulate accurately enough for some people.

I think he was thinking the Transport could use it's ability on itself, when it does it's two actions, it could spend energy to recover shields. It is definitely a subtle threat. It may not be able to do a ton of damage, but it's regen will definitely be... annoying. Considering I'm not expecting the ship to be full of hard points, I don't think the cost for reinforce is too terrible.

Surely initiative 7 coordinate is worth at least as much as Wedge, especially on such a durable platform!

So stoked for 2nd edition epic. My C-ROC arrived a couple days ago and my Raider and Gozanti are waiting!

And that trooper’s name is Jayne Cobb!

oh... wrong ‘verse... ;)

Well, maybe not. What if a long LONG time ago River was one of the first Jedi? 🤔

It specifies 'another friendly ship'.

Well, this isn't first edition, and the scenarios aren't meant to be for tournaments, so allowing for the placement to be "close enough" doesn't seem unreasonable. It seemed like a rather large number of obstacles to be placed by players without the rules for placement getting rather verbose.

Back in the days when I played the MechWarrior miniatures game, they had regular scenario tournaments that had fixed obstacle placement, so it's not like it isn't possible.

All that said, eh, I could easily be wrong about this. 🤷‍♂️
