Epic Battles Multiplayer Scenario Preview article up!

By Jaden Corr, in X-Wing

Feels like an improvement of the old 1.0 mission. I'm feeling happy about it!

Looks pretty good! My wallet is ready!

Not sure if we knew this yet, but the GR-75 gots guns:

And crazily, I just homebrewed a mechanic very similar to the Resupply Craft thing. Weird.

I think they have A gun. Maybe not guns.

Well, if you want to get technical, the GR-75 now features a single beam weapon.

I prefer to think of it as some trooper sitting in the cargo bay with a rifle yelling "bring it on, you imperial (expletive of choice)s!"

Gosh. I know the Medium Transport is, you know, a transport, but it seems awfully unimpressive. Red reinforce is a blow.

What price point seems reasonable? A Lothal Rebel with a docked Sheathipede is 100 points. The Lothal has similar double actions, a better action bar, undocking shenanigans, and massively better firepower. The GR is slightly more durable and can't be blocked, plus has Resupplu Ship and pseudo-Tactical Jammer. Yes, it likely has upgrade possibilities, and projecting how that impacts the base cost is tricky. Still... does 85 points base seem unreasonable? MAYBE 90?

And that trooper’s name is Jayne Cobb!

oh... wrong ‘verse... ;)

I’m pretty stoked. Both for the gr75 spoiler and the mission in question.

I think I may need to start shopping around so that come Black Friday I can jump on a game mat deal for a 6x3 dedicated epic mat instead of trying to line up my two 3x3s. Especially since epic will be played more often now that they are missions and not just “x-wing but bigger”

These may be exclusive to the Scenario pack. We haven't actually seen a Medium Transport spoiler article yet - just the C-ROC and the GR-75, I believe.

These aren’t exclusive. They’re in the Conversion Kit as well.

The scenario uses shuttle tokens similar to the old core set escort the senator. They are remotes in game terms.

The gr75 pilot card is in fact the rebel pilot card for that ship. The red reinforce is harsh, but otherwise I like it.

Well, they mentioned on the livestream that the GR-75 would have a primary weapon as well.

So the shuttles are just tokens, hmm?

Looks like I'm gonna have to 3D print a few of these up for this!

What is the Precision Shot effect mentioned in this article?

Don't forget the +3 Shield EACH TURN!!!! That is more than the other war machines shown so far. That's far better than the VCX.

You must have missed the video. The damage deck for big ships works like regular. Damage is done with face down card. Flipped shows a crit. There is a further Precise Shot that happens if the shot came from that direction. So, shot from the front could give you a bonus crit to the crit.

I’ve got the revealed huge ship damage deck cards available for browsing on Infinite Arenas .
First drop-down: Epic/Huge

Second drop-down: Huge Ship Damage Deck

Why "harsh"? It basically just translates into paying one Energy for a Reinforce, doesn't it?

Yes. It has a pretty limited energy pool to draw on, which makes that “harsh” to me. It won’t be getting to do that every turn for long, and it lacks the shields to manage without the reinforce.

It's not 3 a turn. It's 3 to start, regen 1 a turn. See the single pip next to the value. The value obviously depends on how long it survives and how much it gets focused. We can probably say it won't get more than two shields back a game; it's not like it can escape from an enemy determined to bag it. We'll see.

Overall I think my knee jerk reaction may have been a little harsh; I'm not used to the idea of spending 100+ points on a support ship. Maybe it'll be okay. But... I sure hope the rest of your list is murderous, because that's a lot of points to spend on a ship no more dangerous than a Sheathipede.
