I have limited funds, but I’m definitely buying an mc30c frigate and a gr-75 expansion. What would be a decent equivalent set of expansion for the empire?

I’m not really playing competitively or even at a set point cost. Just looking to keep our games even as we expand them.

This. They fulfill very similar roles to the rebel ships you mentioned, and should keep fleets about the same.

Light Carrier or Interdictor then? Light carrier is a squadron-heavy support, right? So if I’m not getting the squadrons yet would it be very useful?

No, the light carrier needs squadrons to shine, its firepower and durabilty if you send him to shoot ships isn't good. The Gladiator would be the best match up for an MC30, but if its not an option, then maybe an Arquitens. Is not that similar to the MC30, but at least has a similar cost and is a more combat oriented ship than the light carrier.

The arquitens light cruiser would be an option to appose the mc30. It wants to stay at long range and the mc30 wants to close quick and attack point blank. Would keep the sides different but balanced
