“...dumpstered out of the tournament within 35 minutes.”
Been there.
Awesome! See you there.
Quote1. Pick your list and practice with it.
5. Don't fly ships off the board
6. Don't fly ships off the board when you're at the top table competing for 1st place
7. Don't fly a total of 4 ships off the board in 3 games, and ending up with forth place instead of 2nd because you lost so much MOV
source: has happened to me
I'm only just now getting into the game (looked fun when I watched people at the local gaming shop play). So far I only have the 2nd edition Core set, but am already thinking about how I'm going to expand. Regardless...

Heh, a friend of mine has been playing against me today using the core set while I (and he) learn the rules. And at one point or another both of us have done just that. During an Escalation match I was running the Rebels, and was doing really good with my first X-Wing. I'd managed to take out the two rookie Tie Fighter pilots, and seriously injure one of the next two Tie Fighters. Then I misjudged distances and flew off the table. Oops! Luke Skywalker came in, and was closer to the edge then I'd like. Once again I misjudged distances and went with 3 bank rather then a 1 or 2 turn. As such, once again I ended up flying off the table, and losing the match.
Blow up all the things before they blow you up.
Not certain I can do step 3 at this point.

Update: Did it again yesterday
I'm ok with tips 1 and 2, but I feel the third one needs more lines and to be more developed. It is a bit short.

Thanks for the feedback! Will think about expanding on it in a follow up article
great read, we are all such nerds. Best of luck at Worlds. I have an HST starting the day Worlds ends, looking for my invite for 2020.
The below is me to a T.
"One day catch yourself studying an X-Wing tournament calendar and cross-referencing it with your own, looking to save dates months in advance. Make trips out to towns you’ve never visited before just to take part in a small casual tournament. See the same faces there and start to converse more, joking, laughing, bonding. Find yourself neglecting video games and other hobbies because you want to set dials and roll dice. Build new lists because points changes wrecked your last masterpiece".
Live long and ..............may the force be with you ootinni.
