BB-8 boost color

N ow if judges, or other users on this thread, choose to apply their own interpretation, subject to their own biases and linguistic proclivities, to the card and call it a red boost then fine. As long as we are acknowledging that we're not doing what's written on the card and in the RRG.

So what you're saying is, we can do whatever we want as long as everyone agrees that you're correct?

The argument around action is actually a completely separate and equally interesting argument. The problem is that we don't know how to execute a red barrel roll non-action so it breaks the game. But we all know how to execute a white boost action which is what is written on the card.

Now if judges, or other users on this thread, choose to apply their own interpretation, subject to their own biases and linguistic proclivities, to the card and call it a red boost then fine. As long as we are acknowledging that we're not doing what's written on the card and in the RRG.

Once you go BLACK 4a3bc83d5bffd000453c5f52d68ef5fe

i will always rule this as "red boost action or red barrel roll action", based on how i interpret the text and symbols on the card and what's written in the rules reference.

Say... how does BB-8 get worded in translation? I have no idea how I'd begin to check that.

It doesn't matter:

Errata and Conflicts

If there is a conflict when resolving a game effect between different translations and/or printings of cards, the most recent English printing takes precedent. The most recent cards can be found in the FAQ and in the X-Wing Squadbuilder.

Good gods... I'm so glad I lost track of this thread a while ago. It would have driven me mad getting update after update. This feels like a return to the 1E arguments over Targeting Synchronizer, only it's 4 pages instead of 12 and not yet permanently ending relationships. I'd like to nip that in the bud and just bring an end to this.

If I had known in advance the pain this question would have caused, I'd have dragged it by the tail to the back yard and repeatedly Old Yeller'd it into oblivion while laughing and shouting maniacally. Police would have been called. I'd have to be carted into court in Hannibal Lecter cart because I'd kept biting nurses and prison staff. And when the judge asked me why, why did I do this terrible thing to a presumably innocent question, so young and full of life, I'd have wisely remained silent. The argument would have died with me.

Where we stand:

Side A argues that it's white, because:

  • other card specify action color on both actions (e.g. Autothrusters)
  • default action color is white when "not specified".

Side B argues that it's red because

  • the color should apply to both just like action applies to both. Color is specified here by the distributive "red" just like the distributive "action", so the "color not specified rule" does not apply here.
  • If it were truly white, FFG would have explicitly called it out as white to distinguish from the red that would otherwise naturally apply to both parts.

Side A, you're not going to convince the other side. Side B, you're not going to convince the other side. I have a different idea.

If you really want this resolved, you can all ask FFG using this link and hope that generates a ruling or errata. The more the merrier. Without official word, both sides are irreparably entrenched and further discussion amounts to nothing, but a ruling would put an end to this and both sides would have the certainty we crave.

If you reply to this thread, please send in your question to FFG first . That will have actual utility, increasing the odds that we get on FFG's radar.

Thank you.

Has anyone considered the possibility that it's purple and the only way to use it is for BB-8 to equip the "Darth Jar Jar Binks" crew card?

I kept getting a 403 error when using the form on that link, but it worked when I followed the link from the customer support page:

Thanks for the suggestion @Wazat I always forget there is an official question form. 🙃

@Wazat

As a card carrying member of Team B, I really liked your summary. Gotta say...

However, the only part that I missed was the part where you brought down curses on Team A, and demanded that they burn all of their X-Wing ships immediately (or at least BB-8).

But, yeah.... that’s pretty much it...

Sometimes I feel boxed into honoring traditions. ;)
