I flew the list that @Wiredin originally posted in a tournament yesterday. Went 2-1, came in fourth place out of twelve. I possibly would have done better, but I made some crucial maneuvering errors in the first round loss (no doubt thanks to relative unfamiliarity with the squad). I think the greatest part, though, was when Miranda+Han found herself nose-to-nose with Rey, and managed to pull off the Elusive Bowtie Doubletap!

(Yes, this came about in regular gameplay. No, we didn't try to make it happen. Rey basically came away the winner, because Miranda had to recharge a shield on both shots.)

Love Luke for the end game, but I think I'd have a hard time giving up Esege in this list. At the least the way I've been playing it, he seems like the lynchpin to the entire list. His ability to share Focus tokens lets Wedge and Miranda either be double-modded or take another action and still get a mod. And of course the flexibility to use those Foci on defense as well is amazing.

I've been pondering options for replacing Miranda but haven't found an option I like better yet.

I've tried the list with Esege once and I can see that it just plays differently. Esege runs the risk of becoming withered to a Focus provider. When I played the list I was forced to use both Focus tokens on the shots from Wedge and Miranda and Esege was left without a Barrage Rocket shot. (I was not really "forced" of course. But if you have a shot with 3 Eyes, you have to ask yourself the question if its better to spend the last focus for guaranteed hits or if you go for the Barrage rocket shot that might fail miserably.) And as a provider of 2 Focus Tokens, Esege is just too expensive IMHO. There are other options out there for Rebels (I've seen Jake handing out 2 Focus tokens and getting one himself).

Now Luke unlike Wedge doesn't need the Focus. He has mods for days. He has mods when he bumps and he has mods when the K-Wing bumps... on offence and defence. No Focus needed. Miranda is the only one who suffers from the absence of Esege, but she did just fine in my games.

I think that understates his role a bit, but respect your opinion. Jake could be interesting in this role if you can keep him close enough.

Wedge & Esege as discussed here, drop Miranda for naked Biggs and naked Blount. Wedge does Wedge things, Esege for 360-degree threat and Focus dealing, Biggs soaks up damage on those 2 and new meta-darling Blount as a cheap 3 red hitter.

I put this on the table twice at the FLGS this week. Meh results. The original Miranda version is better.
