BBBB

By prauxim, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Admittedly a limited design space, but what do you think is the most competitive way to run generic BBBB currently?

I did lots of testing after Jan points (4x Blue/AS was fun while it lasted) but haven't revisited, is anything new viable? Snap shot?

Or is BBBB+1 just the way to go?

removed a bunch of stuff about afterburners because I forgot about speed restriction d'oh

"Autothrusters" - meaning Afterburners?

I dunno. With only a speed 3 straight being blue, afterburners feel a touch limited.

The B-wing is a great knife fighter (especially with focus/roll rather than the other way around) but I'm not sure it's worth the effort to try and fly one at speed.

Lol, I'm a doofus, not only did I forget the name but totally forgot it required speed 3

You're right, its too much of a limited case. Now I'm back to BBBB+Y or Zeb being my best version of the list 😪

4 generic Bs is 164, so you have 36 points to fill. I'd say it depends on how you like to fly:

- annoying flanking ship (Jake, Tie Sabine)

- support (AP5, Hawk Leia)

- more firepower (Blount)

- promote everyone to Blade squadron with Selfless and shield

The last one sounds fun 😁

I'd add a Gray Squadron Y with an ion turret to the above.

Oh lord, 4 Bs and AP-5 seems like a TONNE of fun

I tried selfless Bs really early, feels pretty bad on all low agi ships. If makes a lot more sense if you mix in high agility ships where a crit can be prevented from a much smaller health pool. Plus its mind numbingly boring to play.

Y wings is good but not interested personally, AP-5 is prob the I'd go if I played BBBB+1

How many points do you have left if 2 of your Bs are the named I4s?

If you go with Ten and Braylen for your B-Wing pilots you need to reduce the rest of the build by about 17 points.

2 named is good, but its weird

If you fly in formation, as soon as everybody does a turnaround, you're now in the wrong order initiative wise.

Plus, Ten and Braylen's ability make them want to maneuver differently (both from generics and each other)

You can not fly them in formation, which I've tried and felt pretty awkward, but likely user error

Put the 2 x I4 on one side(outside away from the middle), and the others on the inside if your gunna put them in formation. Then you can either turn 90 inwards with the lower Init at the front or 180 and the init order doesn't change.

3 generics and Braylen must be alright if you you want more flexibility.

Without a 5th ship, you gotta bring something more than just a focus token and 3 red dice to the table. And that for the B-Wings means cannons or torpedoes.

Blue Squadron Pilot (41)
Ion Cannon (5)

Blue Squadron Pilot (41)

Braylen Stramm (51)
Crack Shot (1)
Tractor Beam (2)

Hull Upgrade (3)

Braylen has a very accurate tractor beam/ion cannon. You are gonna hit or take all the tokens from the opponent trying to dodge it. Hitting with the tractor beam makes your bwings primaries really strong. The rest all have ion cannons for jedi, etc. Also, If you get one ion on a medium base, and a rock is in their future, go for the second ion. Ioning will make your bwings hit a lot harder. (and yeah, crackshot cannot be used with cannons. It is for when braylen aint messin around anymore and needs to put the hurt on)
