I mean they suck wookiee right now, because they're overcosted and to get them to work you need to SERIOUSLY upgrade them in a particular way. Like, they really cannot do their job terribly well. About the only way to field them is to treat them as area denial with their broad arc coverage. Which is totally valid... After weighing costs.
Anyway.
You guys think these will be good in epic? You can probably field about three Starfortresses for the cost of a CR-90, and that's with upgrades. I dunno', seems like it could be valid.
Woe be the return of tripsilons though.
Resistance Epic: Will MG-100s be good?

Trajectory Sim + Proton Bombs or Bomblet Generator with Veteran Bombardier might be a decent idea.

I gonna try.
And if they crash and burn spectacularly, I'll just nod and say:
"Way to incorporate the lore into the design. Good job, gents."

Basically! Such potential... *sigh*
I mean, they were pretty decent in 1.0? I surely hope they shine in Epic. Because i'd love an excuse to dig them out again. I *had* hoped that the Transport would do the trick. But no. But maybe in a list where they aren't the main scary, maybe, maybe they'll do some work.
I think tragedy proton bombs could be pretty good on them. Especially against huge ships where it’ll be much harder to clear out. A few of them going off will hurt, especially if there’s a bomblet in the mix that can strip the few shields that just regenned.
I would take them with VTG and the Mobile arc locked front / back for double tapping and bomb hurling into huge ships. Use t70s and rz2s for fighters.
Epic traditionally hasn't been kind to low-agility ships, so I don't really think gunboat MG-100s are a good plan (although VTG as an 8 point upgrade when you've already invested in one or two of these might make sense), but bombs have potential, particularly in multiples . The thing about bombs is that one bomb is a minor annoyance. Two bombs becomes a threat. Three bombs are deadly.
79 points is a VTG, TrajSim, Proton Bomb generic. Hurl the bombs forward into where your opponent has a flight of fighters. Bring two, and really put the hurt into any TIE or Torrent swarms.
That said, a Punisher probably does the same job better... 53 gets TrajSim/Proton Bomb. Flying three of them is only 1 point more expensive than 2 MG-100s, and while they don't pack the same punch with their red dice, the overall list might be better.

Shave 6 points per ship and go for Bombardier. While having the turret and forward primary are nice, there should be enough points in an epic game list for a decent escort wing or two.

Maybe. Bombardier is the kind of upgrade that has a geometric feel, and needs to be put on the table. Still, I can't really imagine shorter launches are that important. Meanwhile, most of the 1e epic games I played happened in few enough turns that most ships got enough space behind them to really care about further back bombs.
Meanwhile, these things are still 70+ point ships, and if all they contribute are a single 3-dice attack, I think that's really going to put the list behind in the damage race. Having Veteran Turret Gunner doesn't add a tonne of firepower, but now instead of having only the firepower of an X-Wing, you've got a bonus TIE Fighter attack. That really seems worth the 6 points over Bombardier.

Bombarder does permit Trajectory simmed bombs to be placed using the 4 straight.
I know, but I also don't think it's that important.
I really hope the anti-capital ship units will actually be good against capital ships. Pairs of MG100 flinging bombs, swarms of cannon-armed B-wings, Punishers with missiles for days, etc. I would be there for that all day and twice on Sunday. On top of being thematic, and looking great on the table, I like the idea of the low agility ships that have trouble with those wiley dogfighting specialists, like Interceptors and A-wings, actually finally finding their designed quarry on doing what they do best.
they're just overcosted. gods, why so dramatic?
its not like they're failed design like red rotates or weird tractor stupidity.

Honestly fair... Though some of their upgrades are overcosted too. Look me in the eye and tell me the MG-100 couldn't use a cheaper VTG..!

I've ben mining for good death shrimp recipes in my call for suggestion threads. I want the shrimp to be cheaper, not the upgrades.

I'd like both.
Mostly I just want Y-Wings instead. Never thought I'd throw shade at my beloved MG-100s like that, but here I am.
Food for though, they have equal agility. How wild is that?
Base shrimp down -4: 56 to 52
Cat 53
Vennie 54
Perceptive Co-pilot based on PS. PS1 2 3 = 6pts , Ps4 5 = 8pts, PS6 = 10pts.
Perceptive Copilot being cheap would facilitate the return of two ship combo wing things that shrug off focus fire. That's BAD game.
Maybe Holdo should go down, but I think its also a badly designed combo wing turret wing upgrade that encourages too many options and deck building in the game vs good flying. So, ew. Bad. A lot of the resistance stuff reeks of 1.0 combo-wing turret-wing. Much as I like death shrimps.

I do think Y-wings are also in a weird spot. Idk if overcosted.
The Repub Ys probably are.
I don't like turrets in 2.0 either. The whole gain a die at R1 imo. ew.

...You just, really don't like non forward arc, huh?

I don't like combo wing. I don't like turret wing.
I hate seeing two ship large ships with turrets that are way easier by a landslide to play than 3-6 ship lists who need to use bumping.
4-5 Y wings? Neat.
Dash and Hera with turrets and rear arcs and boosting over rocks with 4 dice? Nuh uh.
I love me some death shrimp
Runaway regen Ace + Fat Inertial Han? Nah uh.
Holdo combo wing shenanigans, 5 actions on a single ship, Magic the Gathering in Space? Nope.

Fair enough, honestly.
Also, dear Disney. Resistance U-Wings, please. No, not transports. U-Wings. YOOOOU WIIIIINGS.
Still. I get what you mean.
as long as good flying is the primary focus of the game. And that games can be won or lost by flying ability. Then its ok.
When it becomes, I can build a better card combo with you and WHEEE LOOOK I CAN GO ANYWHERE AND DO ALL 5 ACTIONS IN A TURN AND SHRUG OFF 4 DIFFERENT ATTACKS WAHOO MY NAME IS KANAN WITH FORCE AND MY WHOLE DIAL IS WHITE. Yeah. Not something I will ever let become a new standard of ok.
Given the firepower of epic ships, might just turn into a recreation of the movie
Anyway, the mg-100's only real issue is base cost considering they need SIGNIFICANT investment to even use their pilot abilities! Everything else is an intentional balancing factor and representative of a giant, clunky bomber-fortress
I have similar hopes that the Ghost shines in epic, since having more room to breath points wise lets you load them up the way you want to, and the way they really need.
However, both the VCX and the Starfortress have the same potential problem in epic: I fear that huge ships will shred them.
The Starfortress *really* needs Reinforce. Especially in Epic.
