Adm Piett's super-powered ISD

By Cap116, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

As I was looking over Imperial options in RitR a unique combination became apparent that could be a good place for some theory crafting and testing - ADM Piett and CDR Vanto.

Basically where Thrawn gives the whole fleet 3 command dials for the fight, Piett and Vanto can give one ship 2 distinct command dials each turn, ie, the focus for them is optimization of 1 ship throughout all 6 rounds.

Here is a list I threw together to test the concept, although they could probably sub into a Thrawn 2ship or 2.5ship list fairly easily.

Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Piett

Assault: Suprise Attack
Defense: Fleet In Being
Navigation: Infested Fields

Imperial II (120)
• Admiral Piett (22)
• Commander Vanto (7)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Proximity Mines (4)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Avenger (5)
= 184 Points

Arquitens Command Cruiser (59)
• Auxiliary Shields Team (3)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Hand of Justice (4)
= 73 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Slicer Tools (7)
• Proximity Mines (4)
• Suppressor (4)
= 38 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
• Proximity Mines (4)
= 29 Points

Squadrons:
• Maarek Stele (21)
• Colonel Jendon (20)
• Ciena Ree (17)
• Valen Rudor (13)
= 71 Points

Total Points: 395

What are your thoughts on the command idea, or the current trial list?

Be aware of command priority.

Squad/Eng : High

Confire : Mid

Navigate : Low

- as long as your initial actual ship dial command is an equal or higher priority than the command you are going to Vanto to Piett, you’re okay.

This is because of Vanto’s Timing (resolves, not reveals).

Yeah, my initial command and token plan is:

Turn 1: Eng command, Nav token, 2: Squadron Command, Nav token, 3: Squadron Command, Nav token, 4-6: Eng command, Nav token, in effect, in the first trial I will use then to get Nav commands, since I typically Nav on turns 1-3 and Eng 4-6 with an ISD (conservative choices, I know), but can have more freedom to adjust commands via the Comms net Goz and Vanto to adjust future rounds.

You could try swapping out Vanto for Wulf and swapping Avenger for Sovereign to get maximum flexibility. That's something I'm tinkering with right now.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, so if Vanto's command is a equal or lower priority, with Piett you can resolve two tokens as dials?

Piett is an exhaust, so no.

then what is the op saying about getting twin dials?
is he saying reveal a higher priority command on the ship, once it resolves choose an equal or lower priority command with Vanto and using Piett to convert the token?

One dial you already have, one you converted from a token with Piett.

It’s what Piett does normally, just very flexible.

So with something like this you could in essence double dial the dic and the isd? Obvious downside would be is obvious activation order.

That is correct, and it doesn’t force any activation order if both ships have tokens when they activate.
