New “Bounty Hunter” Fighter from The Mandalorian

By Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun, in X-Wing

FFG, add this to Wave 6 or 7. Stat! Think of the children before rejecting.

Needs to have a better name than Bounty Hunter fighter though, that is a pretty lazy name for a ship. I'm looking for a good companion for my Kihraxz/Fangs, so this might fit the bill right nicely.

I’m fairly sure it has a proper name that will be revealed soon. 😇

Slick, but I'm still moar interested in the G-1-esque hunk that is the Mandalorian's ship; I need another bathtub to fly with mah G-1's.

Those are both really pretty ships. I would happily add them to my collection. Gimme gimme gimme, want want want!

Hmmm, that paneling... Its gonna get a Kath Scarlett coat as soon as possible 😁

Guys, it might seem crazy but I'd advise you and especially FFG to wait for the series and reference books before coming up with stats, slots, and abilities.

That fighter looks like a Space Mig, and i am loving it!

Its a very modern sci-fi design that still looks at home in the kitbash asthetic of star wars vehicle design.

I also dig the way the leads shuttle is a modernization of the classic Mando Akajor and some of the other EU designs. its great when fresh but lore consistent design looks like it was plucked from cut footage or something and was always part of the universe

I sort of hope that either this ship or the Mandalorian’s personal ship have an illicit slot and the SLAM action.

Let’s take that coaxium back from those punk Resistance kids who steal everyone’s toys.

I'd be down for that.

Nice! I look forward to seeing it in game. Depending on the history of the vessel and the timeline of the show, will this ship have a tech slot?

When I first saw it, it reminded me a lot the MIG-21.

Wait, a new ship that isn’t “OT ship with a graphical update”? What sorcery is Disney up to now?

Because it's not a Sequence Trilogy ship. ;)

To be fair, you can make a case for both the Resistance and First Order using re-treads of their older ships in-universe.

First Order- Was basically exiled to a less industrial sector, so they lost a lot of their manufacturing ability. Making upgrades on older ships who have proven technology is less costly than working up new ships from scratch.

Resistance- "Technically" this is more of a militia than a real military force, as they didn't start out as an officially backed group. The New Republic in general stepped down its military spending as it was no longer in conflict with anyone, so the same reasoning of not spending a bunch of money on new prototype units makes sense for them.

Not great reasons, but at least there is a reason rather than just nostalgia.

They managed to build Starkiller Base. That doesn’t seem like less industry to me. They built a fleet large enough “to take the galaxy in a few weeks.” And don’t get me started on Snoke’s personal ship.

They clearly have manufacturing on their side.

Well, there was the exception to the rule in the form of the U-Wing. That’s probably my favorite Disney era new design (new or re-tooled off the old)

Actually, I would say those are great reasons, that make perfect logical sense. Haha.

We're talking over the course of what, 40 years? That's a lot of time to build up both manufacturing ability and war materials; it would make sense that making a giant superweapon like the Starkiller base would take a good chunk of their GDP, as would building up a new fleet. So, re-using or simply upgrading old designs (of which, you could argue that Starkiller base was basically a version of the Death Star, albeit with a new weapon) makes more sense because you can directly build the "new" ships rather than spending extra credits to fund development programs on ships that may or may not function properly.

Seeing new ships out of "scum" makes more sense, as smaller groups like criminal enterprises or independent systems can commission experimental or unusual ships from shipyards that may not meet al the standards that a larger military force may have.

We see this ship in the trailer.

Honestly, it looks Mandalorian.

That would make sense if Star Wars was a documentary, and those "not great reasons" weren't made up precisely so that they can cash in on nostalgia with zero effort.

Think it might belong to IG-11?

It is a definite possibility with as little information as we have right now.

Why IG-11 would be shooting his companion?

An argument about revealed maneuvre got out of hand?

Do we know they start out as companions, or are they competitors at first?

I hope he will be flying something a bit more unconventional and which can do different robotic things, like we see IG-11 do himself in the trailer.
