Tommy Muldoon and Carnivale (spoilers)

By Ildirin, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

I was idly looking at cards today and was curious how he interacts with the Innocent Revelers from Carnivale if he manages to parley with one.

I assume that since they are a card he controls, if they are defeated, he definitely triggers his own ability to get the resources, but I wan't sure what happens next.

Does his own ability override placing them underneath the agenda or do you shuffle them into your deck?

"Forced" abilities trigger before "Response" abilities, so the ability on the Innocent Reveler will take precedence. Tommy's ability won't save the revellers.

Regardless, you wouldn't be able to shuffle them into your own deck, though it might be possible for an effect to exist that shuffles them into your deck from play - if that ever did happen, they'd be shuffled into the encounter deck instead.

Ah, that makes sense. I was looking through the rules some more to see if I could figure it out, though it makes me curious about a couple other things.

Was I too confident on the first point? Does Tommy actually get resources from the defeat of an Innocent Reveler he controls?

I assume it's because they're still owned by the encounter deck that a theoretical effect that allowed you to shuffle them into your deck causes that to happen yeah?

Though that caused me to wonder something else. If Tommy snags someone else's asset with A Chance Encounter or Teamwork, do they get discarded into their owner's discard pile or shuffled into their owner's deck if defeated?

He won't get any resources - his ability won't be able to trigger at all because the Reveler will already be out of play.

Another player's cards can't enter your out-of-play areas (deck, discard pile, etc.) - if an effect would cause that to happen, the card will instead enter the owner's equivalent area (if you shuffle someone else's ally into your own deck, you instead shuffle it into its owner's deck, etc.)

Got it, thanks for your help.
