Clone Wars Core Set Release?

By ArcticJedi, in Star Wars: Legion

Since people have started to get their preorder set's, when do you think we'll be able to by the Clone Wars core set/Clone Wars Expansions?

If I can scrape up enough money to buy said thing is another matter entirely.... but let's speculate!

I have no idea how it normally works but I assume that since the preorders are coming in we have a few weeks to a month till they hit store-or virtual- shelves.

October 18th is the current scheduled release date. No guarantee that won't change (again) but that's the date they're saying now.

Sweet! But I assume that's just the Core set, right? or is it the entire Clone Wars expansion wave as well?

@Alpha17 Where do you find the release dates?

It was the first thing they covered in the Ask Me Anything video they did on Tuesday.

Cool, thanks!

Many of the preorders were coming in because a specific company mailed out product significantly earlier than they were supposed to.

They were the hero we needed but not the one we deserved

Ah, gotcha, well we have the date of release(ish) because of the AMA and stuff.

Why? People who didn't order from them didn't get anything, and they didn't cause FFG to release product any sooner. What they did so was get people to switch orders from FLGSs, which is more villian or just plain capitalist behaviour, not heroic.

And batman, realistically, was just a vigilante.

Why so serious? Seriously is was a joke, MM didn't help anyone but a lucky few that got the orders early. Just thought it was a funny quote to insert

Ah okay. Lack of inflection on text makes it hard to tell, and I have seen people unironically praise corporations for similar behaviour in the past.

I meeeaannnn, if I got my Clone Wars set early I would be pretty happy (since it's been delayed so much and will probably be delayed again).

Heck, I'd feel like MM was my hero. (just my two cents)

I've actually seen that expressed from people who didn't directly benefit. I can kind of understand it from the people lucky enough to get the product, but it's not like MM had purely altruistic motives.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be offended if stuff showed up early somewhere else. I’d also really like to see mine, especially with delay after delay on the whole thing.

Fwiw, my preorder was not shipped early so I didn’t directly benefit.

I'm not trying to say I'm offended, just that MM's motives are not likely to be altruistic.

Im not getting CW as of now, I'm looking forward to the card packs. I can't find the thread that had the list of cards and how many copies of each it has though.

I don't think they were particularly greedy either. I imagine it more along the lines of someone being frustrated and "I don't care, we're shipping these, this was the date".

Even miniatures market isn't exactly Wal-Mart: they have finite storage space and might have been counting on getting that stuff gone in their warehouse.

I find it funny how "capitalist behavior" was the escalation from "villain" in your sentence. Ah, the silliness of the early 21st Century.

Personally, I like that they did it, and I didn't get a thing from MM. I know it was an error on their part due to the rapid shifting of of plans by FFG/Asmodee, but that doesn't matter. For a while, they were actually living up to their end of the bargain, and delivering products people had paid for, rather than sitting on it for no good reason after it had already been delayed. As it stands now, I have hundreds of dollars invested into product that my FLGS couldn't give me even if they had it in hand and wanted to. That is "more villain, or just plain capitalist behavior" on FFG's part. 🙄

"Capitalist behaviour" was supposed to be a de-escalation, not escalation, as it does not require any active ill-intent, just the motivation of profit ("Forget FFG, we're going to release early so we can steal pre-orders from other stores!" vs "We need to move product to get space back"). "Villainous" was to serve in direct opposition to "heroic" with "Capilitist behaviour" then as the neutral option.

Thing is, how did MM have the product already to start shipping it that early? October 4th was announced as the release date on September 17th, September 18th the further delay announced, and on September 19th people starting getting shipping notices from MM. Even for an October 4th release, that seems a bit early for most stores to be getting product to hold.

My understanding is the instructions were being sent to DISTRIBUTORS, who should not have sent product to stores that quickly. Miniature Market is a game store with an online presence, not an actual distributor (as far as I know), but through some arrangement with the US distributor got their Clone Wars product significantly earlier than other stores. If my FLGS had gotten the product that early, I'm sure some of the regulars who could be trusted not to post stuff online would also have been given the opportunity to buy the product, if only to free up the space in the walk-in closet that passes for their "back room."

So I don't blame MM for shipping anything, it makes sense that as a game store they would want storage space back, but I'm not going to call their behaviour "heroic" when their actions were not particularly brave or self sacrificing.

This a lot of ado over a sarcastically applied Batman reference.
