Separatist tricks

By Ikka, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Just got the Nantex, but not feeling like playing Sun due to the amount of flaming that he's getting. Given that I don't have a swarm of Vultures (only the 2 from SoS) I was thinking something along the lines of this list might be enjoyable. Thoughts?

Chertek (39)
Marksmanship (1)
Ensnare (10)

General Grievous (44)
Outmaneuver (6)
Impervium Plating (4)
Soulless One (6)

Count Dooku (63)
Heightened Perception (3)
Tractor Beam (2)
Proton Torpedoes (13)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Scimitar (4)
Total: 199

Chertek works quite well with Dooku; I've flown a list with both of them a few times - and Dooku was carrying a similar load (minus the Shield Upgrade and torpedoes on the Infiltrator, which frees up most of the cost of a Struts-equipped Vulture). Given the ships in your possession, the above seems like a good disposition of forces. My wingmates, rather than Grievous, were three Vultures - Struts DFS-311 and two Struts and Discord-equipped Trade Federation Drones. Using Chertek to tractor-push opponents into the path of a Buzz Droids is a morbidly fun thing to do.

Sounds like it would be fun. I also thought this list might be interesting, but might struggle to work through rock fields.

Chertek (39)
Marksmanship (1)
Ensnare (10)

Count Dooku (63)
Heightened Perception (3)
Tractor Beam (2)
Scimitar (4)

Darth Maul (67)
Hate (9)
Tractor Beam (2)
Total: 200

Can't give you any thoughts on a double-Infiltrator list; I only have one.

@Ikka ,

if a new ship/pilot or mechanic is getting, "flamed" by some parts of the community, and you have purchased said ship/pilot/mechanic, you are better off PLAYING the divisive elements in an effort to prove/disprove the cries of brokenness.

Also, you PAYED for the product. Why aren't you using what the game has provided to you?

Now, if you're afraid of local community backlash for "being that guy" then that's a different issue that is independent of your attitude.

If people want to blame "people like you" and quit the game over Ensnare Sun Fac, then those people probably needed to leave the game anyway.

Use what you have to play the game and win. If the devs decide there's an imbalance, they'll do something about it.

Well-said, @Bucknife .

True and well said, but for me it is more of a dislike for what is popular. I like to try out the secondary or lesser-used pilots and tend to avoid a lot of meta-lists

Toast to that, mate!

Your Bug+2 Sith list seems like a fine go. Nantex gives some anti-ace tech. Two big'uns to keep your dice rolling.

I think I'd prefer the Bug+Grievous+Scimitar, just for the sake of some toys on the Sith.

Definitely need some Proton Bombs on that Dooku, however. Maybe par down the Torps to Ion or APT or even Plasma. Gotta have those bombs for anti-swarm.

If you're looking for just a fun ship, get the hyena, DBS-404 is actually pretty great. Slap afterburners and APT on him and go to town.

I'm looking at getting one, running out of stuff to paint anyway :D
