C-ROC Preview!

Oh, shoot, I hadn’t actually checked... Broken Horn is really good. 3 banks and 4/5 straight are all white instead of red, and 3 straight becomes blue? I do feel like it’ll be better for bigger game areas, but especially with the ship ability that opens up the dial a lot.

Especially with the Corsair Retrofit. “Hit me. Come on, do it!”

There are zero titles, crew, or other upgrades at the moment for any of the Huge ships for Republic, CIS, Resistance, or First Order. I can only assume that something is coming down the pipe that will have these upgrades. I don't see how they would not.

Also, I don't see the lack of these to NOT get this. One, I think they WILL come out eventually. Two, many upgrades won't be used for your list. Three, if it's a friendly game, just use the Scum ones!!!

We get upgrade card packs for all the factions maybe!

I missed that the Corsair Refit is two-dot limited. I'm really curious as to how that came about. I guess three Corsair Refits just proved to be too powerful? I'd love to see the notes from that playtesting session!

That got me wondering about points... based on the huge ship live stream, they stated 60 points for a Gozanti. Here's a Gozanti/C-ROC comparison:

It also depends on upgrade slots, but it seems to me that they'll be similarly costed. The Gozanti trades a hull for a shield and gains a white coordinate, but the C-ROC has one more energy and a superior dial.

Either I'm missing how this works (which is entirely possible since I don't know all the ways to get energy) or this won't work.

You only have 4 energy to start +1 Corsair -1 Wort. And you are only regaining 2 energy per turn.

So that's max 5 attacks, for 1 turn, and then 3 per turn for the following turns.

Scanner baffler can only move allies from one side of the ship to the other, so it can’t get too stupid with Boba.

Well, it isn't like you can go anywhere on the entire table. But with Boba you can basically deploy the large ship lengthwise away from your deployment zone, and warp ships from 1 behind you to 1 in front of you. Pretty deep deployment for anything you want out in front.

*Edit. But its not an entire redeploy, so not broken.

I can see them being about the same points. At first I was going to say now and the CROC was worth more, but I think the ability to dock ships makes up the difference.

The 60 pts for the Gozanti.....where did that number come from?

It was mentioned in the epic preview video.

Saboteur's Map is giving me flashbacks of 1e. Granted its not as bad as 1e upgrade. But i just wish you can shoot mines, like you can with DRK-1 Probe droids.

But who actually used Minefield Mapper? Everyone made a fuss until it actually came out, then no one seemed to use it at all.

Personally, I'm kinda sad. I used it a lot in my notions of scenario design. Now, it's horribly limited; at this point it may as well say "C-ROC Only."

I definitely assume it will be closer to the gozanti pointwise than say the raider. It doesnt have the fire power and it only regens 1 shield.

Thought this might work...

L3-37 Crew, flipped to the configuration side + Broken Horn gives you blue 3 banks on a huge ship.

Then realised that you will never be un-shielded due to the auto shield return every turn. When do shields/energy come back? Assume its end of turn like Force and Energy.

You just gotta be damaged, not un-shielded

Need to be unshielded for L3-37:

I think you're thinking of Broken Horn:

Im intruiged by the double dots on corsair Refit. one dot i could see. but having to sepcify 2 dots would make you think you could fit 3 c-rocs in a list, so im assuming they will be relativly cheap as far as huge ships.

Huge ships can be used in both casual 200 v 200 point games and Epic format games. The points allowed for lists in Epic format can range up to 600 per list or higher if your group chooses to do so.

That's like, 10 C-ROC's!!! 😳

There was a guy at my LGS who took 3 Scurrgs when they first came out, for the purpose of dumping 6 Proximity/Cluster Mines until it got FAQ-ed. Then... he didn’t anymore.

We'll see if there is a hard limit on number of Huge ships, but the format is called "Epic". :D

Kinda my point. Post-FAQ the card was cute but not all that dangerous. I'm sad they saw fit to deprive TIE Punishers of an opportunity.

It was really a great card for players if you were writing a "Guard the _______" scenario. I've been waiting for the card to come back. But now this. :(

OMG I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH!!!!!!???????

I wasn't planning to buy another C-roc, but the Corsair refit card has me intrigued. I can see running two with ion cannons and a bunch of vultures. Ion a ship and pummel it with the vultures. Throw in some Hyenas for missile/torpedo fun.

So between all the previews the unknown cards in the C-ROC kit are:

  • Command - Stalwart captain
  • Team - Ordinance Team
  • Cargo - Adaptive Shields
  • Cargo - Optimized Power Core
  • Hard Point - Ordinance Tubes

Drooling over possible build options... I'm really looking forwards to theory crafting a completely generic (no limited upgrades, though I might fudge it a bit and add Corsair Refit for the extra Energy) EW C-ROC.

Thank you and much appreciated for taking the time to answer and explain, this set is a pass for me then as we only really play Clone Wars for second edition, so I'll hold out hope for a Separatist specific release down the road. Cool that they through one ship card in for them but it's not enough to invest in for me.

To be fair, the bulk of the cards are neither Scum nor Separatist but faction neutral, so you would get all those too.

Instead of the Broken Horn, how about Merchant One? Gives you an extra Turret upgrade slot, and a free attack with it.

A Merchant One Corsair with a Turbolaser, Ion and Dorsal turrets sounds fantastically brutal.

Alternately, an Insatiable Wort Corsair with Ion, Dorsal and Point Defense for six attacks per round at range 1-2?

There's only room for two turret arc indicators, not sure how two turrets and a turret arc hardpoint could work. My guess is it only has its primary plus one hardpoint by default, and the title just adds the one turret slot.

Corsair Refit also adds a turret slot.
