Minimum Human Attribute

The minimum human attribute seems to be 2D. The 1E core rulebook seems to indicate this, and it does become a definite rule in 2E R&E. Basic Second Edition lists 2D as average human attribute, with 1D as below average.

If you go back and read the 1E core rulebook closely, though, the 2D minimum is for human templates . Templates are intended for player characters, so what the 1E core rulebook is saying is that any human character that will be used as a PC should have a minimum of 2D in any attribute (and a max of 4D).

Continue reading the 1E core rulebook, and you'll see the rule for average human NPCs is to throw 2D to represent any skill or attribute throw. This translates to the human having 2D in the attribute being used, with no applicable skill, or it means that attribute plus skill equals 2D. And, that indicates an attribute of less than 2D.

This means, in 1E D6 Star Wars, a human can, indeed, have an attribute of 1D, 1D+1, or 1D+2. And, that person will be considered less than the human average of 2D in that attribute.

If you look hard at the examples for NPCs in the various D6 materials, you will find examples to this effect. In the Imperial Sourcebook (both versions) the Imperial Pilot--considered an elite soldier--has KNOWLEDGE 1D+1 and TECHNICAL 1D+1.

The Imperial Gunners have KNOWLEDGE 1D+1, STRENGTH 1D+1, and PERCEPTION 1D+1.

Imperial Naval Troopers have KNOWLEDGE 1D+1, MECHANICAL 1D+2, and TECHNICAL 1D.

LARS

This begs new appreciation for Luke's Aunt Beru. From GG1, she is listed with all attributes at 2D, the same as her husband, Owen. Comparing those stats to young, trained, fit soldiers, these aren't old, frail people that were are talking about. Owen and Beru are surprisingly tough. They must have to be, living on unforgiving Tatooine their entire lives. They're rough and tough frontier people, used to hardships, and much hardier than what meets the eye.

NPC ATTRIBUTES

Therefore, human NPC attributes equal 12D total. That average human is 2D in each attribute. The maximum is 4D in any attribute, and the minimum is 1D in any attribute.
