New to Imperials Squadron List

By legofiddl3, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I have been heavily invested in playing Rebels since launch. I buy just enough Imperial stuff to loan for teaching. I thought I'd give imps a try, and realized I know how to kill SDs more than how to fly them.

This is my first attempt at an Imp super carrier list, but it seems to lack a bit on ships, but not sure what to do.

I don't have Artiqens, Flotilla, or Chaemera.

Any positive criticism welcome!

Well, the VT49s dont work with Sloane, so you'd be better off replacing them with Marek Steele and Col Jendon.

Squadrons:
• Maarek Stele (21)
• Colonel Jendon (20)
= 41 Points

Do you have Rebellion in the Rim, if so, you might be better off (but still not optimal in my book) with the ISD2 looking like this to save 5 additional points.

Imperial II (120)
• Commander Woldar (4)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Avenger (5)
= 154 Points

The QF is pretty standard, but honestly, Sloane might be safer on the ISD, and Chiraneau is quite expensive for his benefit. The only other small change that I think would be beneficial would be to replace 2 of the generic Ties with Dengar, since he works well with Howrunner's buffed attacks.

Overall the changes look like this (including replacing Station Assault with Surprise Attack).

Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Sloane

Assault: Suprise Attack
Defense: Fighter Ambush
Navigation: Superior Positions

Imperial II (120)
• Admiral Sloane (24)
• Commander Woldar (4)
• Gunnery Team (7)
• Reserve Hangar Deck (3)
• Advanced Projectors (6)
• SW-7 Ion Batteries (5)
• Linked Turbolaser Towers (7)
• Avenger (5)
= 181 Points

Quasar Fire I (54)
• Commander Vanto (7)
• Flight Controllers (6)
• Boosted Comms (4)
• Expanded Hangar Bay (5)
• Squall (3)
= 79 Points

Squadrons:
• Dengar (20)
• TIE Fighter Squadron (8)
• Howlrunner (16)
• Mauler Mithel (15)
• Black Squadron (9)
• 2 x TIE Advanced Squadron (24)
• Colonel Jendon (20)
• Maarek Stele (21)
= 133 Points

Total Points: 393

Hopefully the feedback helps

Added objectives change

I'd move Sloane's command over to the ISD at minimum the quasar is likely to get blasted into space debris.

For more substantial changes, Engineering Captain isn't a bad pick although I can't say I would keep it, Brunson would be as good if not better on the defensive if you don't want to put her on thr quasar. Advanced projectors is risky, while potentially better than ECM on an ISD if there are XI7s running around your meta they are useless unfortunately. If costs are an issue borrow a reinforced blast doors. I would also second the add Dengar and remove some genaric TIEs as the extra counter helps and intel will keep Mithel wrecking-balling. As for VT-49s I would say swap both for Morna Kee (apparently Sloane's personal pilot in legonds) and possibly a firespray if you want some rouge anti-ship. But as mentioned earlier Rouges don't work with Sloane, otherwise Jendon and Stele is a good swap as you would get a double blue bomber you canhave shoot twice.

However I would guess you don't have access to Dengar because of Admiral Chiraneau who is kinda super intel. So I would say get Morna, Jendon and Maarek if you wanted to puff up your squadrons.

If you're going 2-ship, you'll want to find Pryce somehow (borrowing, proxying, finding a friend with 2 copies, etc.) She gets your ISD on target and gives it the first shot instead of waltzing into an Ackbar gunline. As above, Maarek, Jendon and Avenger have tremendous synergy with Sloane. Sloane herself shouldn't go on the Quasar; it's squishy and the likeliest thing to die. You can survive that and get a 10-1 if she's still around to keep buffing squadrons.

ECM keeps the ISD alive. Boosted Comms belong there to provide reach and let you smack threats like slicer tools before they can close, or to enable pursuit tactics (defensively and offensively.) If you're getting value out of Sloane, you aren't getting as much value out of H9s. I like to leave the slot empty, but Spinal, XI7s (if you don't run HIEs) or DTTs can be argued for. Heavy Ions are a gamble, but that can pay off. If not, Leading Shots are the standard choice to keep bad rolls from losing you the game.

For squadrons I highly endorse the Hateful Eight: Maarek Stele, Colonel Jendon, Dengar, Mauler Mithel, Howlrunner, Valen Rudor, Ciena Ree, and Saber Squadron.

These are 134 points of unfiltered squadron murder. Saber and Mauler can snipe intel. Maarek can fish for accuracies or just hit like a truck (turn a die into a crit, reroll it with Sloane.) Ciena locks stuff down, ignores flak and/or uses Howlrunner and Dengar to become a counter 4 killer. Valen mulches generics, and Jendon does whatever you need most while allowing for safe round one Squall runs on ships that haven't even activated. All of them require work to kill, and can fight any squadron wing in the game.

As a bonus, you can ditch the EHB and save points. (And swap out Chiraneau for Skilled First Officer or Hondo, depending on the meta.)

Good stuff so far.

I've been toying with swapping Sloane to the ISD so good to hear that suggestion.

Unfortunately I dont have RitR yet, but I do have Rogues and Villains so I'll take a look at Dengar and the others.

Find room for Saber Squadron, I find him really awesome with Sloane/Howlrunner/Flight Controllers, great for dealing with that h o e Shara Bey, just in general really really good for the points value being able to potentially snipe 6.
