Battle of Hoth -- What Missing?

By wintermoonwolf, in Star Wars: Legion

What military units are still missing from this battle??

REBEL:

  • General Reeikan
  • Hoth Luke; on ground, on Taun, in flight gear with light, upside-down with one-armed wamp
  • Hoth Leia
  • Hoth Solo; on ground, on Taun
  • More crunchies
  • Major Derlin

IMP:

  • Droid
  • Dewbacks with pocket heaters
  • More crunchies

TERRAIN:

  • Wamp
  • Rebel Base
  • Ion Cannon
  • Tower Turret, Golan Arms Anti-Infantry
  • Bunkers

AT-AT

Wampas

And the Tower Turrets

What would be really dope, is a lil Rebel base/outpost Hoth style. Like if they’re doing the Imperial Bunker, a Rebel outpost like the ones from 2004/2005 Battlefronts would be super awesome !

I would say more of the characters in the proper dress. Maybe stuff like Solo on a taun taun or luke in a flyer.

Rebel Operatives and Commanders.

The Golan Arms anti-infantry battery would be tough to make work I think. I like them as models but they were always a bit... off, in D20. There's something jarring about being caught between being scenery and unit.

I will not buy an AT-AT. It is beyond the scale of the game.

A disorganised retreating unit for our AT-ATs to gun down?

Luke, Leia, and Han in Hoth gear.

Probe Droids, though technically they probably count as pre-battle.

Mostly just cosmetics, like commanders or operatives in hoth gear. Solo on a tuantaun would be pretty cool. Although a few more options for rebel vets and snow troopers wouldn’t hurt. It’s too bad the upcoming unit expansions only look to work with regular rebel troopers and stormtroopers.

Good call. upgrades in hoth gear would definitely be a must.

The dust bunkers were along those lines. scenery that was paid for in points and had the ability to be armed. Very powerful IF they could get the shots off. Great for area denial and forcing the enemy to take routes you want them to take rather than the ones they want to. I'd say it would go with plat style. These would of course be more versatile as they would have a 360 arc but they would also be more visible and easily targeted themselves. The biggest issue I could see would be tournaments. I'm not sure about legion ones but from what I remember about 40k ones, the tables were set when you got there and you could not move stuff around to suit your needs. Unless the tourney organizers took that into account and specifically set tables for their use, you could be screwed by either having to put it somewhere you dont want to or even not being able to put it on the table at all.

Side note, Just as the stormtroopers can be explained in non snow games as hostile environment suits, I can see these turrets being used anywhere. I always liked the looks of these turret towers. A LOT more than the satellite dish cannons lol.

General Reeikan, for starters.

Dewbacks. Dewbacks are missing.

I'd pay $50 for a box with Han Luke, Leia, and Chewie in Hoth gear (I assume it would just be a different pose for Chewie), especially if it came with an Operative Han with a Chewie Counterpart card.

...pre-battle is still shaping the battle; therefore, is apart of the battle!...how could one forget about Chewie (with snow on the knose) doing a little distraction dance!...

The Ion Cannon at Echo base was gigantic (as would be expected from a weapon able to strike capital ships in orbit and disable them with only a few shots). It would take up the majority (if not the entirety) of the tiny Legion battlefield.

Rebellion

Upgrages for Aces in Snowspeeders

MLC-3

The Empire

Upgrades for Blizzard Force

Rules for taking down Walkers

Special Terrain features like more detailed trench warfare or special rules for Rebels popping up from tunnel network to harness the Imperial flanks

There should be a title card with ”Then we’ll see you in hel*!”

Edit You can’t say **** on the boards?

A friend of mine painted the leader of his Rebel Veterans as Bren Derlin. We affectionately call him Cliff, and the associated emplacement trooper we call Norm.

Ion cannon would be beyond the scale of the game, even for terrain as it's a planetary scale weapon. At minimum it would take up half the board.

Power Generator would be a nice terrain piece but I've already got versions of that in MDF and 3Dprint so I don't think it should be a priority for them to make.

The rebels are mostly there outside of some commanders and some command cards. I would suggest:

General Reeikan

Han on Tauntaun

Luke snowspeeder upgrade

DF 9 Batteries

The imperials are almost there as well with only a couple notable units missing:

Probe Droid

AT AT

A pilot card for the ATAT that fits on the ATST and the Occupier as well

Terrain would be the last thing to consider and you could do really cool things with it:

Shield Generator terrain with generic command cards and new objectives, etc.

I would have loved to see Frank Frazzetta do star wars paintings. His wife collected his works (as many as she could) and opened a museum on their property. Great day trip if your close enough.
