I've never tried TIE Bombers as dedicated bombers (or seen them used that way), so I can't offer experience on most of your squad, except to warn that your Scimitars will do very little damage even with the conners.

I have used Tomax, and I would advise to just treat him as if he's an initative 5 generic, because his pilot ability isn't worth trying to use (at least with the current Talents in the game). Crack Shot would be the best Talent for him, except it doesn't work on a non-primary weapon so there's no synergy with the torpedos which you obviously want to be firing as much as possible (4 red dice vs 2). To benefit from Tomax's ability then, you need to use Crack Shot meaning (1) attack with a primary instead of a torp (2) have bullseye (which isn't going to be too often, especially with this ship's limited maneuverability) (3) to actually benefit from spending Crack Shot (there's no use to spending the charge if (a) you got no hits, or (b) the target got no evades to cancel, or (c) they got enough evades that Crack Shot wouldn't get any damage through or (d) the result will be enough to score a kill anyway without removing an evade), and later (4) recover the spent charge on Crack Shot with a reload, and finally (5) meet all the conditions (1)-(3) all over again to get use out of the second charge. Realistically, that's never going to happen in actual play. He might be one of the few good uses for Ruthless in this squad (using his squadmates health as fuel to maximise his torpedo shots), or just save points so he moves last as often as possible.

I've had some success with the tie bombers during early 2.0, jonous and 4 bombers with barrage rockets and some with skilled bombardier and proxi mines was amazing, I was unbeaten until the first points change, now I'd sergest either jonous with 4 and all barrage rockets or:

I've never tried it since the points change but it still could be amazingly good, a lot of hit points to get through, you may rearly hit with you main attack but proxie mines can rip through most ships

Interesting... I've been struggling a bit with the game, in terms of finding a list(s) that I can really get behind, even if they don't allow me to do particularly well in tournaments.

One way to do this has been to try and identify specific ships I haven't had the chance to play frequently or at all. The Bomber definitely fits into this label.

Earlier today, had a couple of games with Rhymer/Jonus/Scimitar and Soontir and it got me thinking of ways to play around with Ace + 3 Bombers. At the moment, I'm keen on giving this one a go:

Personal tastes wants me to add afterburners or shield to Fel, but people like bids, so.... yeah. You have 3 'lines' of bullseyes, rip the target's shields off with Fel, clean up with the barrage/crit spam.

  4. Soontir Fel (TIE/Interceptor): Predator, Targeting Computer

My go to fun squad. Jonus fires before the other two Bombers and can be devastating against swarms as well as clusters. I flown this a few times on a loan, not owning the ships myself. If the enemy tries to catch Soontir, bombers have free reign on their rockets and primary. If they focus on the bombers, they can disengage with Proximity Mines and Seismic Charges while Soontir lines up a trippe modded shot (lock, focus and predator).

Well, it's still only a double-modified shot, since you can't reroll a reroll. You'll use either Predator or the lock but not both. Still, it's a good shot regardless.

i used bombers at the 2.0 start...

bombers have an extremely good linked actin: b roll in t lock.

but actually the only bomber that can use it efficiently is tomax brenn for his initiative

i've tried it with afterburners, composure and protorp to double mod the attack but in this way he costs too much and is very hard to trigger.

in my opinion tomax brenn want a coordinating ship to fire protorp

otherwise barrage r and swarm tactics to leverage as more as possible on his initiative.

all the others (except rhymer sometimes) take barrage r. and focus every time (very safe , very boring)

jonus barrage is good but for 51 points i onestly prefer grand inquisitor or soontir fell every time....

i think that they miss a really cheap missile or a really cheap bomb that can really make them shine.

(because they are a way too easy to pop and you really don't want to put too much points on them)

I'm secretly in love with this list, and want to put it on the table. I used to have a (1.0 getoffmylawntalk) jonus and TIE/D ion list that would try to walk opponents off the table, and instead creating a Jacob's Ladder of conner nets to get it there kinda sounds like a good time, to me! I need more connor cardboard!
