Jag's ability doesnt work with R3. Jag is aquire a lock. R3 only works with target lock action, which means jag, at initiative 3, would have to lock for his action to get two locks. And, having a 70pt ARC creates one **** of a juicy target, result in no Jag ability if you were hoping to get double locks by having the gold squadrons go down first.
Sinker is just much better in this situation.

Not with the whole of it but goes just fine with half, the one that lets one maintain two locks simultaneously. By Initiative 3, chances are high he'd have had an opportunity to acquire two separate locks watching his wingmates being put under suppressive fire.
That being said, GST en masse without some additional offensive modified have rough firepower of wet-noodle cannons. Myself, I'd never consider putting three or more of them in a squad without Sinker, the only "Howlruner-esque" effect in the faction.
The other folks hit all the high notes, but also, look at it this way:
What you are trying to do with your list is strain a ship with a missed shot from the ARC then pass a single lock to a Torrent. Respectable, but look at this way: passing a lock to a torrent lets you reroll 2 attack dice. Keeping 5 torrents in range 1-2 of Sinker let’s you reroll 5 attack dice, and you can still put Cody on sinker to get your strain angle if you are deeply committed to it.
