Saw a post over in the VASSAL version thread about a new release - is this the "official" one we are waiting for and should jump to? Or another interim step and we should stick with the release linked in this thread for the tournament for now?

Right now stick with the version we are currently using unless I make a post that states otherwise. As far as I'm aware, that is not an "official' update from the team.

The first, but not the closest.
Some players have asked for a slight schedule adjustment which i thought I had initially placed but see that I was off by a day. Sorry for the error, here is the corrected schedule.
This gives a whole weekend free to complete a game, instead of how it was initially posted, which was split.
Swiss Round 3: Oct 28th - Nov 3rd
Swiss Round 4: Nov 4th - Nov 10th
Top 8 Swiss Round 1: Nov 11th - 17th
Top 8 Swiss Round 2: Nov 18th - 24rd
Top 8 Swiss Round 3: Nov 25th - Dec. 1st

@Karneck any objections to be putting together a Google sheet of tournament points? So it's easier for players to track progress through each round?
@Zamalekite, I’ve been adding scores (not MOV) as round 2 progresses. If the itzSteve v Roquax game ends in an 8-3 or more either way, we’ll be paired for the next game. If it’s a 6-5, then we’ll definitely not be paired. Here’s what I’ve got:
Name Score
Angry Ewok 19
Keskai 19
Karneck 18
Green Squadron 3 18
The Jabbawookie 17
Zamalekite 14
CommanderDave 14
Rikash 13
Order66 Beta 13
Realadmiralsdoitinspace 11
jp82729 11
Beanicus 11
Beginner2Winner 11
TigerKommandant 10
ChavoGuerrero 10
LTD 10
Realveer 10
RapidReload 9
187-Leon 8
BrobaFett 8
xanderf 8
itzSteve 7
Roquax 7
stephen_harris70 7
Irishmadcat 5
medaloffairness 3
Cael 3
deDios 3
SkyCake 1
machinebede1 1
PS, I won’t be picking your Jamming Barrier this time!
Thanks @CommanderDave
There are a few errors in your list though.
I think the list I have here is correct:
@Karneck - if you don't want me sharing this I'll remove the link. Otherwise please pm me your gmail and I can add you as an admin for the list.
There are a few match-ups already confirmed:
@TigerKommandant v @Angry Ewok
@Green Squadron 3 v @Karneck
If the @Roquaxvs @itzStevegame is a 7:4 or less then I'll play @The Jabbawookie. 9:2 or more then the winner will play Jabberwookie.
Nice, apparently I fail at addition. Thanks for making a more thorough and accurate list!
Due to the nature of swiss, I can't offically endorse any preposting of pairings until games are completed.
That said, if players themselves have a "good" idea of which players they feel like they could be playing, can always message each other to see availability.

Sorry it's taken so long for our match, it's been a pretty full week for me and Skycake's weekend was full.
I'll post my VAT standings tonight with my scores.

So far round 2 has been wild so many early 10-1 and 9-2 games! Like that to calm down a bit.
GG both our dice were rolling hot. And that didnt bode well for my short range slower ships
The final game of round 2 is currently underway, once it completes I will update standings and pairings.

The battle of the Rieekans (LTD vs @Zamalekite) is scheduled for 0900 Tuesday AEST (2200 Monday Boris time).

I've had to censor that word. I feel the urge to bang my head on my desk whenever I think about the fact that he's PM 😩
Youve also got the conversion wrong @LTD and @Zamalekite.
Its currently 23.00 boris time and 0800 AEST. Clocks change tonight, so 2200 boris time will be equal to 0800 AEST.
Edit, you blatantly mean ACT not AEST.

He's in Sydney which is 9am at 11 today but 10 as of tomorrow. As if time zones aren't already confusing enough without clock changes at different times!
SkyCake vs Keskai should be starting any minute

TBH, as annoying as sorting out all these different time zones *is*...
...I sort of like this take on the league more than the years-past versions. The larger number of competitors yields a *fascinating* variety in metas that is really interesting to watch.
Really the only thing particularly problematic about it is the pacing, resulting in less-ideal compromise dates. I dunno. maybe a rolling 10 or 12 day window?

Me too! loving the variety of fleets and so far I've played a German, a Texan and I've got an Aussie coming up - that's also a nice variety
