Untouchables entering a webway portal or warp gate?

By grey slayer, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

This topic came up during the session today and we speculated what would happen. I decided to have other opinions have their say before the verdict is posted to the character/group.

Webways are stable and artificial routes through the warp. They border are sealed and typically safe passages. A null will not cause any difficulties in them due to the limited scope to which s/he effects things around themselves. Warp Gates can be either artificially induced (not by any currently known Imperial technology) or somehow happen naturally. They are kind of like wormholes through the warp. Again, the null isn't going to effect it much. After all, a null on a starship isn't going to cause any interference with the vessels warpdrive. But, it would be interesting to show some odd deviance from what would be expected in a given situation due to the presence of the null... Just nothing particularly extreme.

It would probably make the webway passage a bit more "unstable" perhaps adding a bit of a "wobble" to one's travel time, destination or whatever. There is literally NO material to point at in the official literature to this point (that I am aware of). The experience would either be highly traumatic or completely tedious to the null, arguments could be made either way.

One thing for certain: This is an EXCELENT way to piss off the Eldar!

Quite an interesting question. Nulls can accompany voidships into the warp inside their geller fields. If we assume that the webway is somewhat like a geller field in projecting a little bit of realspace into the warp, a Null would likely be able to go through it.

I'm going to agree with Praetus. The Webway is a network of real space, although it passes through the warp. Nulls don't have an effect on real space.

The only time I could see it being a problem is if the untouchable ever got close enough to the edge of the Webway that their personal sphere of nullification touched the barrier between the warp and the Webway. Then, all bets are off.

I also agree with what Praetus said. Ive had to do alot of research on the same question myself because of having a null in the current group...An instance of it was actually written in one of Abnetts books ( one of eisenhorns or ravenor...i forgot which currently ) but in it it has a null going through multiple warp/time gates created by a Daemonhost if memory serves right.

As for the nulls area of influence...thats a radius equal to the nulls willpower bonus in meters..not a small "bubble" to be certain ( since your avg imperial born or voidborn will have a starting WP bonus of most likely 3 or perhaps even 4 ( depending on where they want their high rolls to go and their chosen class ) But it states clearly in the Radicals handbook under the untouchable section that it only affects Psychic Powers, psy energy and effects directed at them as well as warp powers possessionsorcery and corruption from warp shock. Nothing is mentioned about the xeno tech method of the webway gates...just purely Psy powers being affected

I am pretty convinced a null can enter webway and travel via warp portals and it is perfectly safe except for the pissed off eldar. After all, nulls can be inside a spaceship entering warp and travel through the warp in such ship. Also, Solitaires (soulless Eldar harlequins) pretty much *live* inside the webway...
