Engaging T1

By ResoluteHusky, in Army Building

So I started playing pathfinders before the price change and I fell in love with them. Now i'm simply unable to imagine playing a list with less than 2. However, they are quite expensive and they often die before the other troops arrive.

My first idea is to use fast heavy that can disrupt the ennemy while taking some hits

Jyn Erso (Improvised Orders, Duck and Cover, A-180 Pistol Config)
Rebel Troopers
Rebel Troopers
Rebel Troopers
Rebel Troopers
Rebel Pathfinders (Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)
Rebel Pathfinders (Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)
Rebel Pathfinders (Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)
T-47 Airspeeder (Outer Rim Speeder Jockey)
T-47 Airspeeder (Outer Rim Speeder Jockey)

Commands:
Rebellious (1), Ambush (1), Turning the Tide (2), Trust Goes Both Ways (2), Covering Fire (3), Complete the Mission (3), Standing Orders (4)

Deployments: Major Offensive, The Long March, Disarray, Advanced Positions
Objectives: Sabotage the Moisture Vaporators, Recover the Supplies, Key Positions, Intercept the Transmissions
Conditions: Minefield, Rapid Reinforcements, Limited Visibility, Hostile Environment

The other idea is using Sabine as a flanker while slowing the ennemy with the pathifinders, using them as cannon fodder

Jyn Erso (Duck and Cover, A-180 Pistol Config)
Sabine Wren (Endurance, The Darksaber)
Rebel Troopers (Z-6 Trooper, Fragmentation Grenades)
Rebel Troopers (Z-6 Trooper, Fragmentation Grenades)
Rebel Troopers (Z-6 Trooper, Fragmentation Grenades)
Rebel Veterans (Overwatch)
Mark II Medium Blaster Trooper
Rebel Pathfinders (Pao, Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)
Rebel Pathfinders (Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)
Rebel Pathfinders (Duck and Cover, A-300 Long Range Config)

Commands:
Explosions! (1), Sabotaged Communications (1), Trust Goes Both Ways (2), Symbol of Rebellion (2), Complete the Mission (3), Covering Fire (3), Standing Orders (4)

Deployments: Major Offensive, The Long March, Disarray, Advanced Positions
Objectives: Sabotage the Moisture Vaporators, Recover the Supplies, Key Positions, Intercept the Transmissions
Conditions: Rapid Reinforcements, Minefield, Limited Visibility, Hostile Environment

Which one is better? I'm open to any suggestions.

Bistan. Bistan is better. he gives you a 13 die alpha strike. take off D&C and put on hunter or Offensive Push. you also want recon intel on them as far as engaging on round 1, I would recommend Leia and emplacement troopers with recon intel as well. you can do some crazy shenanigans.

786/800 (9 activations)
Commanders:
- Leia Organa (90): Improvised Orders (10), Recon Intel (2) = 102
Corps:
- 2× Rebel Veterans (48): CM-O/93 Trooper (26), Comms Technician (9), HQ Uplink (10) = 186
- 2× Medium Blaster Trooper (38): Linked Targeting Array (5) = 86
Special Forces:
- Rebel Pathfinders (68): Bistan (32), Offensive Push (4), HQ Uplink (10), Recon Intel (2), A-300 Config (0) = 116
- Rebel Pathfinders (68): Pao (22), Hunter (6), Recon Intel (2), A-300 Config (0) = 98
Supports:
- Tauntaun Riders (90): Tenacity (4), HQ Uplink (10) = 104
- Tauntaun Riders (90): Tenacity (4) = 94

room for flavor or changes, but very solid build. My favorite opening is coordinated bombardment and using all the uplinks so almost everyone has an order. you will have perfect order control as well

my recommended upgrades are 2 recon intels on the vets and strict orders on Leia

Out of your 2 lists, #2 is clearly better

For your Tauntauns I'd drop tenacity since in melee you want to be ramming everything your dice pool is 4 black 2 white with 2 of your misses upgrading to criticals, is adding a single wound to that pool really making that much of a difference, whereas comms jammer is the perfect fool for shoretrooper/ mortar order chains, droids, and even clones fire support. Which is way more useful IMO

Recon Iintel would be better on the rebel veterans this let's you get your mk2 blasters about 8-9 inches outside your own deployment, which is often enough to get a turn one fire support. Even sitting Nista at range 4 is enough for turn 1 8 white 1 black, +4 additional black from fire support with impact 1 Ion , and critical 2 , or coordinated bombardment with Leia for 2 red, 4 black, sharpshooter 2 , critical 2.

I prefer Jyn myself because you can play a late game(turn 5) complete the mission to give out orders to the two pathfinders and herself and all the mk2 and rebel veterans, letting them do a recover and an attack on turn5 leaving them all free of suppression going into turn 6 when playing with Leia you may lose units due to having 2 courage instead of 3 and having a lot of units suppressed at turns 4,5 and 6 and only getting 1 action per turn. Complete the mission can sometimes give you 4 or 5 more actions you.wouldn't have had and in a game where actions are one of the major limiting factora.

That being said playing Leia in he Tauntauns list is a no brainer because of no time for sorrow. Which if you play turn 1 and give out orders to the Tauntauns will often leave you with 4 dodges on them.

I assume the 4th Dodge token is from Leia using Take Cover on them?

Sorry I was meaning you can get 3 or 4 , I was thinking of advanced positions if you can manage to swing it for the 4
