Tournament&Game Superstitions and Traditions

By Alpha17, in Star Wars: Legion

I was playing a league game at my local FLGS on Tuesday, and something came up that made me think of some of the traditions and superstitions people have when war gaming. Things like placing their dice so they all show Crits before a game starts to "charge them" or not allowing anyone else to touch their die for... reasons. I know I have a couple. Most are silly, others might have some basis in fact. What are some of the most notable superstitions/traditions you either have yourself at games and tournaments, or some that you have seen in others?

I'll go first:

This are more on the tradition side of things than superstition, but I will almost always try to drink Root Beer at tournaments. Don't know why, but I seem to play better when I drink Root Beer over other beverages. Root Beer is my favorite, so its not a big problem, but I do enjoy other drinks as well. When root beer isn't available, I seem to do worse.

Another thing I'll do, possibly more on the superstition side of things, is that I will pick dice that are showing paint on the table. By this I mean that when I gather my dice pool, I'll grab the 3 black 2 red dice based on which of those dice colors are showing hits/crits. If for some reason I don't have enough dice showing results, I'll quickly grab the others and re-roll them, and pick from the results. Don't really know why I do this, other than since these dice show paint once, they hopefully will do it again.

I say “Natties” when I really need them as I roll dice. Half the time it works and I look awesome. Half the time it fails and I look pretty stupid.

Haha. I did something like that a game or so back; I had a lone stormtrooper shooting at Veers in heavy cover. My opponent said something about how he was worried, and I said "Nah, unlike you, I don't surge to crit!".... and rolled a natural crit. Needless to say, I test it out the rest of the game, and never got another natural crit.
