The Highlands for Mid-Level Characters, while The Dungeon is for High-Level?

By bioball, in Talisman

So are The Highlands with its 8/8 Boss is more of a mid-level board than The Dungeon with its 12/12 Boss?

The more I read about how The Highlands is set up, the rewards for going there and that you will end up in the middle region if you want to, it seems this expansion helps a player on the way to the Crown.

The Dungeon however seems hard enough it is a place to go instead of the Crown. After you beat the Dungeon, getting to and taking the Crown should be a cake walk.

Maybe I am making a false distinction or is that a fair description? I am trying to decide which big box expansion to get and right now I am thinking The Highlands.

I agree that the Eagle King is sort of a mid level boss, but that's good.

I don't know yet how dangerous the Highlands is.

You could indeed say that the Highlands helps the character getting to the crown by teleporting to the middle region.

I think i will travel first to the highlands if i have around 6 a 7 strength/craft

After that, i will go to the dungeon or stay on the mainboard..

FFG has made the LOD too strong. The Lord of darkness should be also around strength/craft.. 8 etc

I cant see the problem with the Highlands having a milder end boss.

Also based on this I guess that the Highland deck is similar to the main board as it is another zone to explore which is a little harder than the main board but milder than the Dungeon...in a way I think the designers have created this so that both zones (Highlands and Dungeon) can be explored one after the other at your own pace.

Its not as if everyone will head there first from the first move...I for some reason keep getting STR 2 characters so I doubt I will head there first.

I love the way the expansions are panning out and are slightly different in there own way.

My only request (and I do not want this to turn into a debate of any sort as it has cropped up each time mentioned) is to avoid space/futuristic themed expansions like Timescape...(I really think I should this sentence).

My impression is that the Highland is more suited for middle characters, with a Strength of 5 and a Craft of 4 (Average), while the Dungeon is for Strength 8 and Craft 6 (Average, this means that with these stats you're going to be quite safe from Enemies).

I like Highlands since they seem to be a chance for middle-of-the-road Characters to build up their Strength/Craft and also get valuable Relics. I'm eager to play with this expansion to confirm it.

Too bad I didn't try the Dungeon with the Priest.

I've played one game were I was the Priest, and from my first turn I moved to and stayed in the Dungeon, until I was srong enough to win. Burning Spirit's is a handy skill to have in the Dungeon.
