Gravitic Deflection - worth it?

By Ryuneke, in X-Wing

I want to build a squad with the new Nantex. With 2 Nantex in the list, Gravitic Deflection looks good at first glance. However the card is pretty expensive and other options are worth considering or maybe even better (e.g. Crack Shot, Predator,...)

Whats your opinion about the card?

It's a powerful defensive option, especially if you can't get ensnare to work on a particular turn. Whether it's worth taking depends on how tight the rest of your points are

Im all about crackshot. tractorbeam easily sets up bullseye. Ive been playing chertek though, so maybe predator good too on the others

I think you’re right. Get in and kill stuff as fast as possible.

The other thing is that Nantexes are struggling against medium/large bases so gravitic deflection won’t trigger at all...

Gravitic deflection only really triggers for me when the ship isn't able to dump their tractor token, so triggers fine against medium/large bases. Ensnaring medium/large bases though, that is a challenge

Yeah - @pyoinator said the same thing I was going to. Gravitic Deflection works as long as a tractored ship is in the firing arc. It doesn't specify friendly or enemy, so if you can't transfer the tractor token, you get a defensive reroll. It mitigates the reduced defensive roll somewhat.

Definitely. You almost need to dedicate your list to that. I've got a list built but not flown that uses two Petranaki Arena Aces with Ensnare and Dooku with Heightened Perception and Tractor Beam, so that it's more likely that you'll be able to tractor all ship base sizes in one turn. Remember, the tractor tokens disappear at the end of the round.

I think it will be a reasonable thing to consider if/when Ensnare gets price nuked into oblivion. Until then? Probably not.

It’s basically a push between 2 agi with reroll and 3 agi. When you get 2 rerolls on 3 dice, it’s pretty close to the equivalent of focus, so it stacks well if you bring multiples, but that gets expensive.
