Marvel’s Kevin Feige Developing New Star Wars Movie

This is not something that would be done to fix “brand fatigue“.
Just sayin’.

I mean, Marvel was critisized for having super hero movie fatigue for a long time but they just keep succeeding. A "Star Wars Cinematic Universe" as it were could be amazing
Just what new Star Wars film need, stupider plots and worse acting. As if the first 2 films in the new trilogy weren't bad enough. Bleh.
Bring back Gary Whitta please.
Wow. Huge middle finger to Sony and spidey fans right there.
That said, if anyone can milk bigger $$$ out of it, Kev can.....
Looks like they are hoping moving to something like the Old Republic Era away from all the characters we know will somehow fix the fatigue.
An awesome movie starring Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, is still needed. It is therefore unlikely that the franchise will ever recover, for me.
Just let’s hope it’s not more of the Sith trying to rule the galaxy. A Star Wars movie about a ANOTHER evil old man in an easy chair is the last thing we need.
As someone who stopped watching Marvel movies years ago, having SW follow the same route and start spamming movies is not the way to go. Then again, if the movies were actually any good, that'd be a welcome improvement over the current status quo.

Fans don’t have “Star Wars Fatigue.”
They have “badly made Star Wars movie fatigue.” You can say you liked them if you wish, but there have been a few that were not terribly well made and the merch associated with those films is what’s struggling to sell. All of the films were profitable (Solo would have done better if it was released at another time and they hadn’t redone so much of it before release).
I don’t know what the new content looks like, but I’ll give it a try. I am eager to move on to new eras that haven’t been spoiled by problematic productions.
Franchise fatigue lol.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. Bob Iger has stated several times that the reason Solo did poorly is because of “Brand Fatigue”. It’s all a way for them to save face and not admit they made the most divisive movie ever.
My personal opinion is that TLJ was one of the worst movies ever made and took more from the Star Wars franchise than it gave and what it gave was problematic (hyper space bombing, and tracking). It is the one Star Wars movie I wish could be unmade, but for me the Skywalker Saga ended at RoTJ, since even TFA had issues, many of which were ignorable but it was the movie that created a shaky foundation for this trilogy.

If it's "one of" where do you draw the line? One of the worst 10? Worst 100? Worst 1,000? Out of hundreds of thousands of feature length movies ever given a wide audience there's some really bad stuff out there.
If I assigned all the 10 Star Wars movies a simple rating of -1, 0, or +1, and totaled them up, I'd give the series a value of just positive one. I suspect a lot of the writers and directors are farming their work out to uncredited 14 year old Star Wars RPG gamemasters.

I completely agree. TLJ was one of the most disappointing films I've watched (Probably as bad as The Last Airbender).
It was also indicated in a study that the new SW trilogy is failing with the younger audiences aswell. Children just aren't as interested in SW as previous generations...
I believe this is due to lack of interesting characters, failed character development, pushed politics, and boring climatic scenes.
Something something "Hyperspace plot hole" something something "Mary Sue" something something "ruined childhood"

Whenever someone brings up the hyperspace ram all I can think of is that Doctor Who bit about how things don't exist until they do.
DOCTOR: They're ghosts! Yeah, ghosts
CLARA: You said there was no such thing. You actually pooh-poohed the ghost theory.
DOCTOR: Yes, well... Well, there was no such thing as... as socks or smartphones and badgers until there suddenly were.
There was no such thing as hyperspace ramming until one day there was. Why? Maybe everyone in the galaxy thought it was impossible and they never gave it any real effort... Based on the outcry about that scene from the fans who all think it's impossible, that's not a far stretch...
Well, I hope theyre good movies. TFA was entertaining at least. TLJ had some good moments but it was a really weird movie, and seemed to just waste all the characters. I actually enjoyed both R1 and Solo though.
Wharever happens, moving forward I'm going to watch reviews and look at feedback about SW movies before spending my money.

If the web was a thing back in 1983 there’d be an unholy number of videos about how Force Lightning was deus ex machina. Then again these complaints often come from people who lament, “SJWs ruining Star Wars,” as if the Jedi haven’t always been literal social justice warriors so... whatever.

Being one of the fans who enjoys all the films...

Usually I like your post but come on 14 year old RPG writers they would made a better movie.
i have been fan since the beginning and i have my favorite star wars movies yet don't hate on them because i go to movie to be entertained and also i share them with my two sons it not always about making movie for me it about did get entertained. so using your rating system I would probably be rating them a 3. -1 0+1 0 +1 +1 0 +1 +1 -1 0

"Roll a perception check"

"18"
"You see the force ghost of Darth Revan"
... some thing something Yuzhan Vong... something something Thrawn...
I've played a few Star Wars RPGs, really it seems the only way to make the games playable is to stay as far away from "named NPCs"as possible. It's been my experience that GM's get a little clung to their convoluted plot... where we end up reviving "Grey Jedi Revan" to teach our force user the "balance" or Thrawn personally harassing our low level smugglers and bounty hunters...

I'll get in on this action too.
I say, between 10 movies it's a solid 6
EP 1: 0
EP 2: -1
EP 3: 1
R 1: 1
S: 0
EP 4: 1
EP 5: 1
EP 6: 1
EP 7: 1
EP 8: 1
EP 1 didn't do much for me, but I still like it in general. EP 2 had some really killer scenes, but some absolutely dreadful dialogue, it's love/hate with this one. With the exception of Solo (which I though was good just kinda unnecessary) I enjoy the films entirely.

I need hyperbole in my life more than I need oxygen or water, but this is not a great take.
Empire is always gonna be my favorite. In order for the plot to move Luke has to crash land on a planet within 100 yards of the dude he was looking for and also Vader tortures people on the off chance that someone he ran into one time will get powerful enough with the Force to be able to peer into the future and also happen to use that ability in such a way as to realize what Vader is doing with enough specificity to be able to find the planet and city where it’s happening out of all of the planets and cities in the entire galaxy.
Nothing that’s happened in the ST so far has been that contrived and that’s just one of the things that Empire specifically and the OT in general needs to get its juices flowing.

Lol that is great and I got the same feelings. I may dislike some movies more then others (okay I can't stand 2 and find new ways to dislike it every time), but the best thing about Star Wars is you got so many options. TV, comics, books, and even tabletop games. The old Legends now safe from George Lucas, who with just Boba Fett alone changed his mind on if he was dead or alive at least 10 times. I can't really think of a better time to be a Star Wars fan then right now.
Sure TLJ made some weird calls, but I did not really think that it destroyed the franchise......maybe wasted a lot of potential? And as a comparison I would throw in Game of Thrones as a franchise that has become a real train wreak with both the show and the books being massive dead ends for fans.

I would say that is a pretty good average for the movies. Only real change would be TLJ as a 0 instead of a 1. It divided a lot of fans so putting it somewhere in the middle of the pack is probably safer.

Yeah TLJ is gonna change from person to person.
I like a lot of the themes touched on in TLJ.
Especially in regards to Kylo and Luke. Even people we regard as legends are human, and can suffer from loss, depression, and guilt like anyone else. Kylo hit's the nail on the head in his final scene with Rey. Let the past die. The Jedi, the Sith, let it all die.
With the appearance of Sith troopers and ole papa palpatine in IX, I fear we may be diving further into the Sith lore instead of leaving it dead.

I would say if the rumors and guessing about 9 is true the main character of the entire franchise should be papa palp. Not the sith, Jedi, or Skywalker.
