(Order 66 Podcast) Questions for the Devs: Collapse of the Republic
Did you have solid early concepts of the clone and Jedi careers/specs that survived into the final product more or less, or was there ever a time you had to start fresh? Were there a lot of red markers and late nights involved, or did the careers come together smoothly?
What are some favorite bits of Clone Wars lore that you enjoyed getting into the book?
How was it decided which species to include in the book? What do you see them as bringing to the table that other species don't? With dozens of existing species, does the available design space feel cramped?
Any particularly fun combinations of specs from this book and earlier ones that you've tried out?
What's some stuff that authors tried to get in there that simply didn't fit, either due to word count or not being on topic? I would have loved stats on the Zillo Beasts, for example, but I can see how it wouldn't exactly fit the themes of this book.
Why only one Signature Ability for the clone career and the jedi career? Was that a page count thing or that there were no cool ideas?
I was expecting that either in rise of the separatists or collapse of the republic there would be a specialization or other mechanism (perhaps something like the scar talents from forged in battle) for Jedi with a capital J characters to get the "secrets of the jedi" and "secrets of the jedi (improved)" talents, but to date only the padawan survivor specialization is the only way to get them. I was wondering if there was a design process history that you could share about why traditional Jedi don't have access to those talents.
Regarding the quick path to power rule. I've been interpreting it as only characters with the jedi career starting in the knight or general specializations were eligible for it. Was that the intention or would the Jedi career characters starting in the padawan specialization be eligible. While, yes the GM has final say, but beyond that what was the intention of the developers for who would eligible for the quick path to power?
I've noticed that, with the quick path to power, starting jedi knight and then going master and ending with niman-disciple saves a significant amount of xp because of cheaper sense emotions and improved center of being (also having 3 ranks of center of being makes it worthwhile) was the it explicitly intended to design in such great synergy between the jedi career and niman-disciple specialization? (Combining knight and niman-disciple covers the few deficiencies of the niman-disciple lightsaber form spec very well).
Also could you discuss design decision as to why the portable plasma shield (2 hp armor attachment) can't be used as a weapon even a +0 melee weapon when the very similar energy buckler item (from I think keeping the peace) can? Also, the portable plasma shield seems to be about the same size as an energy buckler, but does it get bigger as it's modded for increased defensive and deflection?

I noticed that the spear the Nightbother warrior [Rival] had in its stat block does three damage, and the sword the nightsister [Rival] does 3 damage.
Enchanted Nightsister blade (Melee; Damage 3; Critical 2; Range [Engaged]; Defensive 1, Disorient 3, Vicious 2).
Enchanted spear (Melee; Damage 3; Critical 3; Range [Engaged]; Disorient 2)
Doesn't that seem a bit low for the damage? It seems like there no brawn added to the weapon damage.
Is Mother Talzin suppose to be a non darkside user?

The nightsister specialisation. Is this limited to Dathomirians or can anyone take it? I know with retired clone trooper it was human males but this one has not such limitations.
Regarding "Momentum" talent: how does this work with a jetpack? Since a jetpack essentially makes the character a personal vehicle and one planetary scale movement is equal to an entire engaged->extreme personal scale movement, does this mean if a Death Watch soldier at extreme personal scale could jetpack up, engage an enemy, and deal +5 damage?
Thank you very much for your questions!

I wished I had known about this. My big questions would be about the Separatist Commander.
What was the thought process behind the Separatist Commander Specialization?
Were there any thought about adding a prerequisite to the specialization?
How does it stack with Droid Tech and Droid Specialist?
How would someone take all three specializations?
Any recommended species for such an endeavor?

I did. They covered the Senator and then jumped to the signature abilities.
