The only justification I can think of is that the incredible diversity we've seen since the last update largely renders some of the original reason for Hyperspace unnecessary. As stated above:
6 hours ago, GreenDragoon said:Extended had an intrinsic motivation for people who wanted their extra ships, or more combowing, or whatever reason.
But if the points changes are working and Extended is actually incredibly diverse and mostly devoid of combowing etc., then how is it much differnt? Almost all of the most powerful meta monsters are currently 100% hyperspace legal:
• Sear Swarm
• I5-6 Jedi
• Bugs
• Imp Aces
• 5x PS TIE/sf with missiles
• Even inquisitors, though without Jendon
In fact, I hardly see hyperspace doing much as-is, because most stuff that isn't hyperspace is a bit overpriced, the only major exceptions I can think of being the Lambda and Kihraxz Fighter.
Still, I was very much looking forward to the future of Hyperspace. We have yet to see something rotate out of hyperspace, and I wanted to see how that would go; what would rotate in or out, and what might stay there for a very long time, especially in terms of upgrades! I really like having a more restrictive competitive format. I do think Extended can and should be balanced on its own, but hyperspace has the capacity to push certain things more, in really interesting and amazing ways.
May it rest in peace.
