Umbaran starfighter

By executor, in X-Wing

How long before we see this bad boy?

Out of the entire clone wars series, the Invasion of Umbara was my favorite mini series. Mostly due to the point of view from the clones themselves, but this could be a really cool ship to see on the separatist side of the table

Yeah, any mini series that focused on the clones instead of the jedi were the best parts of the show. I really enjoy watching the fight that this ship is in (also has rep z95s/ywings) and think its a pretty interesting ship, but have no idea what makes it special.

In the show it had the ability to hover around like a helicopter. Perhaps ffg could impliment some sideways movements that isn't a barrel roll?

That is an ugly ship.

Interesting movement options though- maybe having a ship ability that lets it use a 1 or 2 template for barrel rolls, and a white stop?

But tie fighters can hover just as well because they have very powerful repulsorlifts.

Forward-facing white Talon Rolls.

Weak weaponry- 2 dice attack with 1 or 2 missile slots. Don't know if it would be much different in terms of usability than a Vulture droid unless they give it some serious movement shenanigans; with the Nantex that might be the second style of Separatist design philosophy. Robots that are pretty much disposable but you can pack a lot of them in a squad (and have a support ship with them) and weird movement ships that use their strange mobility to offset their relatively weak offense/defense.

Separatist Star Viper, sounds like.

The tie fighter doesn’t have an ability.

Interesting take. In the show they actually had a very high defensive value. The clones had trouble dealing with them with their weaponry, the Umbaran technology was more advanced. While i can't say much for how many dice should be rolled, they definitely had shields.

They also had some form of plasma torpedoes

Hmm. Never watched the show, though I will when the Disney streaming comes out, but at least Wookiepedia stated only one rapid-fire laser cannon and 2 detachable missile launchers. I was assuming fairly low shield/hull numbers, but higher Agility than the Vulture.

It would be an interesting addition to the Separatist line-up. My personal list for the next three releases would be:

HMP Droid Gunship- Medium based ship with 3/2/5/2 stats, with slots for missiles and turrets. Advanced droid brain like IGs rather than Networked, showing that they are more independent. Would serve as a good heavy fighter/all-around ship similar to an ARC or Y-wing.

Umbaran fighter- 2/2/3/1, slots for missiles. Make the dial weird, with movement shenanigan ship ability. A good companion ship for Nantex aces.

Ginivex fanblade fighter: 3/2/3/3, no secondary weaponry slots. Have some sort of configuration that gives bonuses for having the fan out (maybe defensive?) and fan in (Boost action like S-foils?), giving the Separatists a ship that can fly well with the BB without being a droid.

Feel like this would be as good a place as any to link this.

For anyone interested, here was my take on the ship I made a little while ago. I'm thinking of revising it down the line.

Edit: By the by I think this ship looks gorgeous, personally

Could this be a double faction ship? Separatist generics, but with 2-3 unique Clone pilots?

Could even have different dials and actions depending on the trained Umbarans vs the untrained Clones.

The clones weren't technically flying as they put it in the show, they were just trying to avoid crashing

I think their pilot skills would be 1's lol

Of the 3 pilots it was Fives, Hardcase and Jesse. Hardcase didn't make it out alive to complete the mission if i remember correctly
