I always assumed the Tarkin/Hux comparison in the first movie because Hux escaped where Tarkin didn't, but you're right. I guess he moves towards the Piett/Ozzel situation where he's just trying to stay alive under someone willing to kill him given the chance. That said, I suspect he might just survive Kylo somehow or become the 1 leader of the First order if Kylo goes rogue for any reason. Dunno, The Palpatine thing is sure to throw it all for a loop.
